Millionaire Challenges Norquist: You Want Low Taxes? "Renounce Your US Citizenship +Move To Somalia"

Lobbyists for a day, a band of millionaires stormed Capitol Hill on Wednesday to urge Congress to tax them more. They had a little trouble getting in. It turns out there are procedures, even for the really rich.

But once inside, their message was embraced by liberals and tolerated by some conservatives — including the ideological leader of anti-tax lawmakers, who had some advice for them, too.

"If you think the federal government can spend your money better than you can, then by all means" pay more in taxes than you owe, said Grover Norquist, of Americans for Tax Reform, a group that has gotten almost all congressional Republicans to pledge to vote against tax hikes. The IRS should have a little line on the form where people can donate money to the government, he suggested, "just like the tip line on a restaurant receipt."

One of the millionaires suggested that if Norquist wanted low taxes and less government, "Renounce your American citizenship and move to Somalia where they don't collect any tax."

2. They should be invited to speak before Congress -- if the can
get Colbert in, couldn't they get these guys?

These are true patriots who are asking to do their fair share and they are treated like a joke. Insulting. Disgusting.

3. Want no regulations?
Move to Haiti. They have few regulations
Want a true free market society? Move to a country in Africa where even judges and their decisions can be purchased.
This was said by an economist.

4. Judges and their decisions can be bought here unfortunately most of the time.
If the elite get a decision they don't like they'll just appeal and get it reversed. If it's of significant consequence they'll just appeal it up until they get the decision they know is coming for them.

In the process, they'll just ban those judges they don't want involved from being able to participate and the media will NOT report on it in any way that reveals just what that means (I can't believe that just happened).

Luckily for them they don't have to appeal too often though! They've got it pretty much locked up. For now...

11. Republicans like Norquist are fond of the "you can spend your money better than the government"
and their minions repeat it like zombies. What they never take into account is how an individual taxpayer should contribute to roads/schools/libraries/police/fire dept./defense/safety inspectors/and on and on and on. Do they think those things are free? I realize they want to privatize everything but I wonder if they've thought about how much they'll end up paying personally for those things.
I guess in their 'no taxes' utopia...only the rich have roads with no potholes.

25. For the life of me
I cannot understand how it can be allowed to stand that any member of congress should take an oath/vow/pledge/swear to anyone or anything other than upholding of the US Constitution as being their #1 priority in office. Norquist has in effect set up a shadow government and that has been allowed to stand. It cannot be tolerated one moment more. It's treason on its face.

All of those who took a pledge need to be hauled in front of a court of law and forced to pick one or the other--and if they side with Norquist, then they need to be thrown in jail for lying when they took their oath of office.
