Wonder what Cain thinks about this:
The holidays are no time to go hungry for any member of the family. Godfather’s Pizza Restaurants of Portland and Vancouver are helping to combat hunger in the greater Portland Metro area through a food drive for people and pets. Drop off your donation of nonperishable food today.

What: Godfather’s Pizza Holiday Food Drive for People and Pets

When: Through Dec. 31

Where: At local Godfather’s Pizza Restaurants (below)

What: Bring your donation of nonperishable food for people and pets

Your donation of food for people will be donated to St. Juan Diego Parish, in NW Portland, to further their mission to provide short-term and long-term solutions for the community.

For every 20 items collected, Godfather’s will donate a large pizza to Faith Cafe in Beaverton for those in need of a hot meal. Faith Cafe is a partnership of faith communities dedicated to serving those in Washington County who are hungry for food and community.

I bet if he was asked about people and pets being hungry he would say something like 'people do not need charity, they need to get a job!'

1. He's probably all for it
It's free advertising, first of all. Every newspaper in the area is going to pick this up, as well they should. If it's formatted correctly, you're looking at 2 columns x 2 inches with the headline. Whereas a "2x2" ad costs money, a 2x2 "news story" is free.

Second, it's not costing Godfather's very much to run the program. They're going to give away some pizzas, but charitable contributions are tax-deductible. The labor to collect the food won't cost anything, and the charities will transport the donations to their places.

And finally, both the human food donations and the donated pizzas are going to religious organizations. Knowing Cain and the people he probably installed before he became a lobbyist, these are probably the most fundamentalist religious organizations in the state of Oregon.

Combine free advertising with tax deductions and another reason to get poor people into the church's clutches? Perfect setup!
