ABC News’ Mary Bruce and Jon Garcia Report:

President Obama said today that Republican presidential candidates are “wrong” to defend the practice of waterboarding, which he said is torture.

“Waterboarding is torture. It’s contrary to America’s traditions, it’s contrary to our ideals, it’s not who we are, it’s not how we operate,” Obama told reporters at a press conference of the interrogation technique.

Republican Presidential candidates Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain said in a debate Saturday night that they would support the renewed use of waterboarding.

“They’re wrong,” Obama said today. “We did the right thing by ending that practice.”

1. Ending the practice isn't the right thing.
Prosecuting the criminals who practiced torture is the right thing.

4. I have thought about it...
but I think handcuffing W. and getting my bones rearranged by a goon in a black suit just to have him released two seconds later doesn't seem to be worth the effort.

3. Actions speak louder than words. If it is a crime, then it must be prosecuted. nt

8. The ONE conservative nitwit I have marginal respect for
For those who don't know, Mancow, a right wing nitwit radio personality, was pooh-poohing waterboarding on his show, and actually submitted to the procedure personally. He endured waterboarding, in a controlled environment, administered by friendlies, for about two seconds. He changed his tune on waterboarding as torture.
