When did it become acceptable, justifiable, and occasionally sanctioned to molest women and children? Herman Cain’s victims are coming forward everywhere and yet his supporters, lead by that ultimate misogynist Rush “deaf by temptation” Limbaugh, start attacking and insulting them for daring to come forward with details of the assault and harassment they endured from Herman Cain. Are we still, in this day and age, blaming the victims? Shifting responsibility from the perpetrator to the innocent women he allegedly molested?

Now comes the case of the firing of Penn State Coach Joe Paterno, who is reportedly “stunned” by his recent firing over his cover-up of alleged serial sexual abuse of children perpetrated by his former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky. Students and supporters rioted in protest of his firing, tipping over a news van last night in their outrage. Uhm, excuse me, but should’t we be outraged that Paterno was informed by an eye-witness who saw Sandusky rape a 10 year old boy in a shower - and he did nothing about it?

Should he be rewarded for criminally concealing a felony against a little boy?

There’s something horribly backward in the response by an increasing number of people to these crimes. A pervasive, growing attitude – possibly born from the recent illegal wars that raped, maimed, murdered, and tortured innocent Muslims – of indifference to the suffering of others and defense of the aggressor. This is particularly true if the victims are regarded as “lessor” in some way, as are women and children in this society. We also see this in the attitude toward the poor.

It’s getting ugly out there, Truthseekers.
