The news is bubbling with reports about the Occupy Wall Street movement. I saw a guy holding a sign down at Westlake Park that says it all. It read: “I’ll believe the corporations are people when Texas executes one.” Our nation cares more about corporations than it does its citizens. How did this happen? It has not always been like this and we know it. When did our precious experiment with democracy get outsourced?
The soul of America is sick, and protests against Wall Street greed and corruption have spread across the globe faster than a vaccine-resistant influenza at a slave-labor camp. Americans are participating in various towns, erecting tent cities in public squares, holding nighttime vigils, and occupying places of corporate commerce.
Something is definitely happening, something that we have not seen in some time in this country. As the global economy takes a nosedive, corporate profits have soared to a level of abject obscenity. And many Americans have clearly had enough.
Globally, the Occupy Wall Street inspired protests are already on a level that has largely been reserved for a time when America was on the brink of war. Here in the U.S., Working class Americans have finally realized that there actually has been a war being waged, an economic war, and it has been being waged against them. Those charged with representing America’s interests have failed, and for whatever reasons they have allowed the corporate sector to stage a complete and total takeover of our nation’s political system.

It does not in any way represent the feelings of Americans."
