An afternoon at Occupy Oakland
Edited on Wed Nov-02-11 06:40 PM by KamaAina
Get this -- my boss took me up there!! (we're in San Jose, about an hour away) We were there to take part in the Disability Rights Brigade. I got to see the action in Oscar Grant Plaza: unusual smells (no, not that unusual :smoke: , just incense), tasty-looking food. and of course, drums. :-)

There were about 50 of us with disabilities and supporters. We marched over to the state building a block away, to do a teach-in. Alas, the Oakland state building has a detachment of CHPs, who blocked the doors so we couldn't get in. We rallied there, then some of us went around to the other side so as to block off that door.

At that point, the boss had to leave to get back down here and feed her 7-month-old. (Who says progressives don't have family values??) Just as well. I'm beat! (but satisfied)
