GOP now sending out the meme that they want to unite the country.
How do we counter this narrative. We know we democrats were not the ones slicing and dicing the country over the last 30 years. But how do we counter this meme? Cause the GOP are saying stuff like "we stand for a united America" (Ron Christie on RealTime).

1. Actions speak louder than words.
Not only applies to our POTUS but everyone else.

The want to unite the country, they've a funny way of proving it. Show me where and then we may be able to talk. Until then, just words, usually lies.

Old school. Simple. Truth.

6. When they shut down the radio hate mill
I'll start to even consider the proposition.

I guess hell will freeze first.

9. Oh, that will have to be pried out of the cold,
dead fingers.

Their hate radio is their national mouthpiece to effectively control their hatefilled trained monkeys and parrots.

I often wonder where the sensible ones went, all dead? Paid off or smashed down to keep quiet like our yellow dog Dems?

They lack a voice of reason and sanity.

2. Typical teabag spelling error. It really says "want to untie the country".
They're doing a great job.

4. This is their classing "creating causes and conditions" trick:
Destroy everything and when people are in a panic, offer a Solution!

Unfortunately, we can clearly see that they are the ones destroying everything, and that they defintitely DON'T deserve to lead anything except a garbage scow to the dump!

Fuck you, Republicans.

7. I totally concur. They want to get all the power away from all parts of the 99%

and make all the decisions about what is good for the country. No program that does not benefit the 1% is allowed to exist.

8. We don't have to counter it, their actions speak for themselves.
Christie is mistaking capitalism as what unifies America. America is unified through democracy and a respect of each others humanity. We all know the GOP doesn't respect all people's humanity. They don't even like gay soldiers.

12. Oh btw, Christie talks about that unity as if capitalism is what unites this country.
He talks about class war being un-American and "demonizing" the rich being un-American without ever mentioned how the middle class and poor are demonized by them all the time. Our country isn't united because of capitalism it is united by the American dream. THEY have destroyed the American dream so therefore THEY destroyed the unity. We can literally feel their oppression. Christie is warped and lives in a bubble. Their "united" message is them shitting their pants and trying to call truce because they know they overplayed their hand and the alarm bells have sounded.

I mean, how can someone talk about unity then go on to hate gays, minorities, women, democrats, other religions, poor people, disabled, students, etc?

Now, can we get any assurances that they won't dig up Ronald Reagan?

21. Unite the country in stupidity?
Seriously? Looking at their candidate roundup, they have far bigger problems than merely "uniting" more than 10 people, let alone a country full of us.

Do they even have a person that is capable of getting the nomination to unite behind? Last I checked, they are in a race to the bottom.

22. The thing that bothers me is that the ignorant masses might fall for this..
They see how divided the country is, so the President gets the blame.. even though we all know its entirely the Republican's fault. Democrats need to unite and present a clear consistent message to counter this. The message: The GOP is intentionally refusing to cooperate with the President to create chaos and failure with no regard for whats good for the country.

23. Yup. The GOP caused the debt crisis by cutting taxes year after year. They are the reason
for all the cuts to programs. Plus they have sliced and diced the American people so they would vote social issues or patriotism and not with their economic self interest.

24. They are too modest. They don't want to unite merely the country.
Edited on Tue Nov-01-11 11:30 PM by Boojatta
They want to unite the world. Given another chance, they will find the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, and then defeat the axis of evil. After that, we will enter a glorious period of universal peace, prosperity, and nothing but good stuff.

Everybody knows that fires, ignorance, and crime aren't good. However, firefighters, teachers, and police in Wisconsin will lose their jobs when ungood stuff such as fires, ignorance, and crime no longer exist. They know that there will be no place for them in the new era of nothing but good stuff. So that's another problem.

However, I speak for the Republican Party when I say that it's a time for unity, a time for the permanent removal of all forms of evil from the planet Earth, a time for a new era of nothing but good stuff, and a time for realism.
