The Men Behind The War On Women
The Men Behind The War On Women

A group of men with no real background in law or medicine, but blessed with a strong personal interest in women’s bodies, have quietly influenced all of the major anti-abortion legislation over the past several years. The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops may be one of the quietest, yet most powerful lobbies on Capitol Hill, with political allies that have enabled them to roll back decades of law and precedent.

Over the past two years the GOP-controlled House of Representatives has launched one of the most extreme assaults on women's choice the U.S. has seen in decades. Republicans voted twice to slash federal family planning funds for low-income women, moved to prevent women from using their own money to buy insurance plans that cover abortion, introduced legislation that would force women to have ultrasounds before receiving an abortion and, most recently, passed a bill that will allow hospitals to refuse to perform emergency abortions for women with life-threatening pregnancy complications.

But the erosion of women's rights didn't begin with the GOP takeover. President Barack Obama's health care reform law contained some of the most restrictive abortion language seen in decades.

Lift the curtain, and behind the assault was the conference of bishops.

1. True re Catholic Bishops, yet CATHOLICS support CHOICE and just as many Catholic women...
as any other women have abortions --

THAT's really the secret behind the activities of these males --

they know that all Catholics are thumbing their noses at the Catholic

ban on artificial birth control and abortion -- especially women who

seek abortions!!

Since the Church's inane teachings no longer work to control Catholic

women and their families, the only solution is for the Church to try to

get government to control women and reproduction for them!

Is that at all about a love for children, or concern for women? NOOOOO -- !!

In fact, a few years ago, the Pope before this one appeared before the Italian

government to BEG them to "make Italian women have more babies" -- !!

Did the Pope cite his love for children? Did the Pope suggest more assistance

for women and families? No, No.

The reason the Pope gave for this request was that business needed LABOR to expand!!

Americans favor government-run health care by 74% -- CATHOLICS by 73% -- 83% when

Hispanic Catholics are included -- and they want abortion and all reproductive care

to be included -- including abortion!! And abortion for simple CHOICE by 51%

8. Church Hierarchy just has to get over their "pelvic issues"!
That's what Gary Wills said in his history about papal infallibility called "Papal Sin".

Think about it:
-Against sex outside of marriage
-Against homosexuality
-Against birth control
-Against abortion

Pelvic issues, all of them.

Always has been -- always will be --

4. If you're going to slam nuns, at least provide a citation or link to their anti-choice activities.
Otherwise you're just showing your ignorance. The female religious orders in the Catholic Church have virtually NO power to effect Church doctrine whatsoever.

7. You know what's weird?
I have not met an anti-choice guy where I live, yet. They are all VEHEMENTLY pro-choice. Even more so than the women. I find women, especially those who have had kids and had trouble-free pregnancies, are the ones I argue with about choice. Maybe it's just my area. I think women in my area have a really misplaced sense of security when it comes to women's rights. They think *those* days are over. It's like they just don't understand that it can go backwards more easily than it went forward.

6. It isn't, and has never been about abortion
It's about controlling women. If they get rid of abortion, birth control is next. The easiest way to control a woman is through her children.

Every other argument about pro-life is BS. They want abstinence only, knowing that if abstinence actually worked, humanity would have died out long ago. Think about it - religion has pushed abstinence for centuries. Has it worked? Well, you and I are here, so the answer is a resounding "no".

It's about shame and controlling women. That's the reason for the so-called "pro-life" movement.
