Macaca!

George Allen to mount comeback campaign in Virginia

January 17, 2011 - 7:22pm

WASHINGTON - It looks like former Virginia Senator and Governor George Allen is about to jump back in the game.

Politico reports Allen is planning to tell supporters within a week that he's starting a campaign to retake the Senate seat he lost to Democrat Jim Webb in 2006.

Webb has sent mixed signals about whether he will seek reelection.

DNC Chairman Tim Kaine, who could be the Democratic nominee if Webb bowed out, has been telling friends he thinks Webb will run.

"The possibility of a rematch between those two would be one of the hottest Senate races in the country," Politico's Chief Political Correspondent Mike Allen tells WTOP. "Not only do you have two well-known political figures going against each other, but it's almost certain that President Barack Obama will play heavily in battleground Virginia in his re-election race."

2. Did everyone forget how horribly Allen mismanaged VA's finances during his term as Gov?
Why would anyone trust that POS with anything more complicated than busing tables?

4. FSogol, do you have any sources for that?
Can you please share them? I live in Virginia and would LOVE to have ammo against this prick.

6. Remember the "Thursday Evening Massacre?" That's when the VA legislature
put a stop to all of Allen's ill conceived plans.

And here's proof that current Gov McDonnell can't learn from the GOP's mistakes:

I'd check the Wash. Post archive for more info.

7. Hell, he almost won the Senate race in 2006 AFTER the 'macaca' incident.
That was a very close election, indeed. As a Virginian, I will offer that most Virginians are as dumb as a box of rocks. Bob McDonnell won by 17% one year after Virginia turned blue for Obama.
