Reply email from my brother who's a cop.
I sent my brother who's a los angeles deputy sheriff a few videos of occupy wall street, including the "I AM NOT MOVING" video clip.

Here's the response:

I hope it gets even bigger because that’ll mean alot of overtime for me just like back when I was working the Rodney King riots…..I made LOTS of extra money. Chaa…Ching !

:puke:

9. In this case,
I think it might have been from the other side of the horse.

2. I'm curious as to how much of a rookie your brother is?
He sounds like he's really young and following the "alpha" group mentality.... IOW... he'll look at that statement differently later... Saved here!

7. Since he worked the Rodney King riots, I'm guessing he's not much of a rookie.

8. "Rookie"? Not even close. He's been a Los Angeles Deputy Sheriff for 20yrs
After serving in the Marines for several years and shortly after serving in Desert Storm as a Marine Scout Sniper, he joined the Los Angele's Sheriff's Department.

4. Well some think that way
OWS locally marching with cops in solidarity. Yesterday I talked to occupiers and baby sitters. Some of the boys in blue get it...they'll be there, one pink slip away.

Given local politics has a lot to do with it.

5. This nation's biggest problem, IMHO, is the people who put personal
financial gain before all other considerations.

6. Cops are 99%ers too.
I'm sure he can use the boost. He should thank the protestors.

12. Thanks MrSlayer. That was actually the message of my email I sent him
Of course knowing my brother and his opinions and having experience with his co-worker friend's personalities. I tried to make the point that the police should be standing in solidarity with the occupy wall street because they too are the 99% being screwed by the 1%.

But I can say I'm not surprised with the response I got. I just wanted to post it here to share it with others.

11. Well at least he doesn't want to shut us down
It doesn't bother me one bit that he wants the overtime, he is part of the 99% and I am sure he has bills to pay like the rest of us do. While I wish he would have said some other reasons why he wanted us to grow as well I would much rather have a cop who wants us out there than a cop who wants to shut us down.

14. So, one would think he's want the Occupy Movement to persist, not shut it down.

15. Well, there's another way OWS is helping the
economy...forcing municipalities to pay cops. Hope he spends a good chunk of it creating demand.
