Attucks was a colonial soldier and is known as the first martyr of the American Revolution. He was the first die on March 5, 1770 at the hands of British red coats. The King's soldiers were sent to quell colonial unrest at unfair economic policies and to protect the British power elite's assets in Boston. Five men were shot down that day. The soldiers were tried and convicted, but all they got was a branding on the thumb. Sam Adams and Paul Revere did their best to not let these lives lost be forgotten. They preserved and published etchings of the massacre and distributed them throughout the colonies serving to early on galvanize the resolve of the upstart Americans to remember a group of martyred heroes and their fight against tyranny. They would ultimately find victory.
Scott Olson is an American veteran of two tours in Iraq. He was protesting in Oakland against the tyranny of the 1% of wealthiest Americans. He was critically injured by the Oakland Police sent to protect the assets of the wealthy in the Bay Area. He is the first serious casualty (And Lord willing he pulls through) of the 'Occupy Wall Street' movement. He cannot be forgotten. The video tape of his being wounded and those brave souls who were not willing to leave him behind in the chaos and the being fired upon themselves must not be forgotten. This shows the imbalance of power better than any chart or verbal arguement ever could and can bring more Americans to the OWS cause. The footage is finally getting some MSM airplay, but must survive more than a day in the news cycle. Every day this event needs to be remembered, talked about, and the lies around it need to be exposed. Those still on their feet need to continue the fight for Scott Olson and the rest of the 99% The fight is for a 21st century paradigm shift in America's attitude toward her tired, her poor and her huddled masses. We need to take our country back from the 1%. The powers that be are worried, and getting scared. If we tighten the steel in our spines and press on, victory will be on the horizon.
Remember and pray for Scott Olson, the first casualty of the Fighting 99%
