Burned Gay Man Beaten To Death Was On Way To Grandmother's 80th Birthday

A gay man in Scotland, having been burned and beaten to death, and, some reports state, found tied to a lamppost, early Saturday morning in Cumnock, Ayrshire, Scotland. Police are investigating to determine if the victim, Stuart Walker, 28, who suffered “horrific injuries,” was killed as part of a hate crime murder. Walker was on his way to his grandmother’s 80th birthday party but never arrived.

“We knew something was wrong because he was really close to his gran and wouldn’t have missed her party for anything,” the Daily Record reports Walker’s cousin, John Mullen, saying.

His poor parents and family. How unbelievably painful to know that someone you loved so dearly died that way. As a mother, it's one of those dark places I dare not let my mind go. As much as I hope for Stuart Walker to find peace and for his family to somehow find peace and the courage and strength to go on, as much as I wish those things, I wish for the people who did this to somehow understand the horrible pain they've caused. As hard as I try not to feel vengeful and hateful, I truly do hate the monsters who did this. And I truly do wish for them the kind of torture and pain that they have caused. The pain they put Stuart through, and the pain they have sentenced his family to for the rest of their lives. I'm not proud of it. I just can't help it.
