It's difficult to educate the public when there are so many layers to expose and it gets complicated. Actually it's almost unbelievable how entrenched the corruption is and how it got that way.

5. ALEC is a blight upon state legislatures (and Congress)

They are sneaky, shady, and their "model legislation" is nothing but a bunch of right-wing fantasies come to life (and have managed to become law in a lot of states). :puke: Diane Rehm did a segment on them on one of her shows and the ALEC representative she invited on seemed really evasive and swarmy. The more exposure they get the better. State legislators should be the ones writing and debating these laws in full view of the public. These kind of laws should not be getting written by a bunch of shadowy cabal and then just given to state legislators to introduce.
