We learned over the weekend
that my daughter's good friend lost his mother in the Seal Beach shooting massacre. Such a horrifying shock.

My heart aches for this boy/young man and his family. And for my daughter and their entire group who are now trying to help their friend while feeling so helpless. At the same time they are feeling frightened and are questioning their own mortality, most of them for the first time.

I lost my parents when I was young. I understand the pain as well as I guess any of us can understand someone else's pain. I should have a word or two of comfort, or wisdom, to offer...but all I feel is anger when I think about the mindset that seems to have driven this guy, and the people who push and glorify such acts. You know the people I'm talking about.

My heart goes out to all the victims and their loved ones:

1. It was truly horrifying and very sad...
Sometimes all you can do is just let them know you're there for them, in whatever way you can be...

5. Oh dear goodness no!!!
I'm so sorry for all involved. I hadn't followed the story beyond the headline. I didn't know the shooter suffered from PTSD and a devastating physical injury, but wasn't getting all the help he needed. Sounds like he used to be a nice guy. Oh how sad. I'm so sorry, sweetie.
