GOP Panic Sets In
snip

“If you read the newspapers today, I, for one, am increasingly concerned about the growing mobs occupying Wall Street and the other cities across the country. And believe it or not, some in this town, have actually condoned the pitting of Americans against Americans.” – Eric Cantor

Damn! I nearly spit out my coffee when I read that one. At that exact same moment, the pot that I had brewed the coffee in called the kettle “black”. Aren’t these the most interesting of times? They are, you know. They really are!

Here is a question that I am hard-pressed to avoid: Is there a bigger worm slithering though the halls of Congress than Eric Cantor? If there is I’d sure as hell would like to know about it. It has always amused me to watch him on the tube trying to defend the morally indefensible. He always has this weird look of cherubic contentment on his clueless face. It really is something to behold. To the credit of Mitch “The Plutocracy’s Bitch” McConnell, he at least has the decency to look somewhat ill at ease when having to vomit forth their nonsensical talking points . Cantor, on the other hand, is right at home with their delightfully twisted agenda. Too weird!

2. No. They aren't.
They slaughtered the Dems in mid-term elections, seized back control of the house, and 2012 polls show even stronger numbers.
I'm sitting here watching it unfold as they are shaking in thier corporate boots?
My God, we are in more trouble than I thought....
Denial.

4. what 2012 polls show even stronger numbers?
I am curious, not trying to argue, because I have seen just the opposite.

6. I think they are still in the delusion of the teaparty "revolution" (2010 elections)
as the excuse to go further and further to the corporate right. Denial indeed.

They are not afraid. They are doing their typical dismissal by derision.

Assuming the rightwing media (faux , the radio talkers, etc.) will be able to "shape" public perception.

Not working -but I don't think they realize it.

Per smarmyness I think Paul Ryan is a close second.

10. It Doesn't Have to Work. They Only Need to SAY It is Working
Even if they can't convince the public to support the teabagger/repiglickins, they can convince most people that they convinced everyone else, and that the Repiglickin "win" is legitimate.

That was good enough in 2000 and 2004.

9. They have no one that is electable
My father is a hard right conservative. He's angry as hell and grasping at straws because there is no one for him to vote for. I reminded him that he was the one that announced that Sarah Palin would be the next VP of the United States. He made a face, and said "Oh no." I said, yes, that was what you said. You also said that Perry was the next president, now his campaign has imploded under the weight of Perry's own stupidity and that of his wife."

He sputtered, complained and laid into the OWS protesters that they are all hippies. I then said, "Well, you'd better give it up then, because 70% of Americans support OWS per many different polls, so that's a hell of a lot of hippies that you are up against." He sputtered some more, complained, and then started a rant about communism. I laughed in his face, and went on about my business.

11. Except the fact that they inject left-wing views into the political dialogue
Something that has been missing for YEARS. People are talking about it now, and nothing the media or the GOP can do will shut them up.

14. But they are not even left wing. The shift in perception is astounding.
Nothing against you. :)

But I don't see anything that Nixon wouldn't have (reluctantly) endorsed.

Looking around, people from all walks of life realized they were getting screwed by the system. Then they noticed who wasn't being screwed by the system.

This is a kind of mass ethical outrage.

15. The point is that people are talking about it, finally
and with one voice. It is a mass ethical outrage, because there has been a mass ethical breach.
