Does the GOP think women don't vote??
Lawrence O'Donnell just had a segment about the so-called "Protect Life Act." We women better make these idiots pay big-time next year. :banghead:

....dumb women willing to be subservient and give up their rights in a heartbeat because Michelle Bachmann and Sarah Palin said it's okay.

3. They certainly prefer that you don't.
That's clear.

I hope women and like-minded men remember that when jobs are the #1 issue on the entire planet, the GOP House, controlled by the teabaggers chose to pass something that will lead to more death and suffering.

7. I don't quite get this.
It's not like women overwhelmingly vote pro-choice. In fact, depending on what poll you look at, we might lose in a women pro-lifers vs. women pro-choicers vote.

I'm trying to understand your point.

I have no idea why any woman could vote GOP after this.

14. This poll for example.
http://www.gallup.com/poll/118399/more-americans-pro-life-than-pro-choice-first-time.aspx

Shows that it is pretty tight when it comes to how women feel on the abortion issue.

18. 73% think abortion should be legal under some circumstances
that includes the MAJORITY - 53% - who think abortion should be legal under some circumstances - this follows current law as articulated by Roe v. Wade.

23% think abortion should be legal under any circumstances - which goes beyond current law.

So, the poll you linked to indicates that the OVERWHELMING majority think that abortion should be legal as it currently exists.

17. You mean anti-choice?
Because I'm pro-life and pro-choice. There's a huge difference between the two.

12. It depends how you ask the question.
There's lots of women who's opinion comes down to "I will never have and abortion. But I have no right to stop anyone else".

So if you phrase your poll question in the right way, you can trigger the first part. And if you ask it in another way, you can trigger the second.

15. any woman who votes for the gop is an enemy of all women
it's that simple. really.

any woman who votes with a party that thinks it's okay to let women die because of a religious belief is no better than the morals police in Saudi Arabia.

16. Just another form of voting against one's interests
Social, economic, personal, etc.

It's amazing just how many people vote Republican that, in many ways, "have no right" to be voting Republican.

It sounds like an arrogant statement, but it's true, and it's deleterious because it by necessity involves similar people who DON'T wish to be party to Republican fascist agenda.

19. They don't really care, since they know that behind the scenes
Edited on Fri Oct-14-11 05:31 PM by SoCalDem
superhuman efforts are being made to marginalize and disqualify people who "shouldn't be voting", and since abortion/birth control issues are most of interest to young women, probably a LOT of those women have never known a time when they did not have the rights they have (even though they are being dissipated).

Many young people are notoriously "distracted" by life, and many do not vote, or fail to register in time, or vote the way their parents tell them to vote. In many college towns there will be a lot of shocked young people who find out the have to vote absentee in their parents' state...and most will probably find out too late, or will fill lit out in such a way that it's tossed in the trash.

22. Some women, like some minorities and some low income people, vote stupidly
and against their interests.

I remember canvassing in 2004 and talking to a woman who was concerned about 'changing horses in the middle of the stream' (or some similar lame shit) but did mention she was pro-choice. I tried to explain the Supreme Court factor to it but she just didn't seem to get it. This was the kind of person who believed the swift liars b.s. about Kerry but didn't bother to think through who was actually going to do what as President and how that might affect the issues she cares about.
