WOW! Occupy Wall Street Raises $225K
Julia La Roche | Oct. 13, 2011, 2:55 PM

The movement has raised $225,000 in less than a month, CNN reported.

Occupy Wall Street has secured $150,000 in donations. Separately, the movement has raised $75,000 for its newspaper publication The Occupied Wall Street Journal.

A Finance Working Group member from Occupy Wall Street told CNN that the donations were made through two websites -- occupywallst.org and nycga.cc.

The money is being kept in the Lower East Side Credit Union and Amalgamated Bank near Occupy Wall Street's headquarters in Lower Manhattan.

4. Yes...it's to be used for extra food and stuff. People who just wanted
to give donation rather than ordering food or mailing supplies.

2. What were the stated reasons for raising the money?
I'm assuming one was the publication of the newspaper.

5. The newspaper is a separate fund. They raise money for
different things, in fact they don't even have to ask, people are ordering food for them, eg. They needed a generator eg, and asked for donations and received enough for that in one day. Then they stopped that fund.

They also need more equipment, eg, sleeping bags, blankets, rain gear etc as the crowd occupying the park grows.

They make fliers like this eg:

And the movement keeps growing. They need legal fees also, although I think some of the lawyers are working pro bono. However that too is a growing need thanks to the Corporate Police Depts and the Wall Street Mayor in NYC.

7. Got it. It might be wise to set up some sort of trust, with a friendly but not legally involved
attorney as the trustee.

Handling money can probably get difficult in a leaderless group.

11. Business Insider had a post today saying Soros was not funding
OWS and had some back up proof...but apparantly trolls or something took the post down. I tried to find it to post to you in reply. I read it this morning. It was titled something like "Myth of Soros...something like that."

If they'd left it up it would have trashed the Tea Partiers claiming that Soros is like Koch Brothers..which is a lie.
