1. i'm familiar with this club. my friend
is a member. it's a great place. they give classes on how to use it -- how to cook with it. no one gets past the lobby without a valid MM card. there's a private security guard on the premises. you pay $75 each time you go there and they donate 1/8 ounce of MM. they also have wrapping papers, vaporizers, etc.

with the dispensaries you see a doctor who takes your vitals and then the MM is donated. you pay between $125-$140. they donate 1/4 ounce. no security guard and at least one is in an area that is not safe.

2. 75 an 1/8th seems a bit steep..
60 is the most you'll spend in san diego. most are 50-55. their setup sounds a lot like the dispensary in el cajon. best of luck to all involved, and i hope your friend has alternatives.

3. if you go to a dispensary and see
a doctor it's a minimum charge of $125 and you get 1/4 ounce. BTW. the doctor's visit is not covered by insurance, medicare or medicaid.

i wouldn't know how much 1/8 ounce costs on the street, but with the club it's tested and it's pure -- same with the dispensary.

i'm going to write a whole post about MM in arizona -- maybe tomorrow. it's not for the poor. it costs $150 to apply for the card ($75 if you're on food stamps). it must be done on-line and paid for with a visa or mastercard. you have to be computer saavy to fill out the forms. the card has to be renewed every year at $150.00. add the cost of the club or the dispensary and it's expensive.

how many people living on disability can afford this?

they have the doc at the dispensary itself? here in CA, i paid $35 for a recommendation which is good for a year. i think a renewal may be even less. in CA you bring your rec and valid ID to the dispensary. once you're in their database, most dispensaries only require the valid ID for entry. like i said, the average "donation" for an 1/8th of top-shelf is $55. of course more quantity gets you a bit of a discount.

some of the dispenasaries here also use bud genius, so you know that your product is quality.

5. Excessive and seemingly unreasonable.
Must be a bitch to live in AZ.

California, $60.00 for visit to clinic to get "recommendation," as it's not a prescription.

Get's reduced in year two, and subsequent years plus reduction for any referrals made by patient.

Go to a valid dispensary, have recommendation varified, for free here in Cal at the dispensary.

Once your recommendation is verified you are in the dispensary's database, the get in line, choose appropriate product for your application, growing plants, bud, hash, tincture, lozenges, tea, herbal rubs, cheesecake, etc......

Products are priced according to grading scale and THC/CDB content.

6. wtf is it with the sudden "marijuana purge"? One of the most innocuous,
least deadly drugs - is this just an extension of the beat up on poor people thinking?

Surely there are more important crimes that bring violence to far more people. Investment banking comes to mind. Why don't they send 3/4 of the cops to business and forensic accounting courses and set 'em loose on Wall Street, taser and pepper-spray at the ready?

We could spend the money for these purges on a nationwide group of tuition-free high-skill-level vocational schools (like the manufacturers "say" they need). Bet we get a better return.

There is obviously a nationwide effort of sorts. Haven't they got anything better to do?

7. In a sane nation, run by normal people

we would do just as you have suggested.

It's true that manufacturing plants are hiring here, and that they lament the lack of skilled labor, but it's also true that there are few opportunities and locations for people to acquire those skills.

We'd rather spend money on For-Profit prisons than spend that money on vocational schools. The reasons: Corporations get cheap prison labor (.22 an hour) and the For-Profit prisons get packed with $$$$$$$ victims $$$$$$.

Who needs to educate people when we can imprison them so easily?

Yes, this is the best some people can think up as a money-making scheme.

Look for Corrections Corp and Wackenhut and all the others to invest heavily in the coming elections...
