New Rule: President Obama should go on TV and say that Mitt Romney
is every bit as much Christian as he is.

Sure, you and I know that A) They are both Christian and B) It shouldn't matter anyway. But for the Evangelical Community, this would be the death blow for Mittens presidential campaign. And really, that's what is really important.

With apologies to Bill Maher.

1. But but....
Isn't Obama a Muslim, like the evangelicals believe?
They would say "yeah Romney is every bit the Christian that Obama is....NOT!"
:sarcasm:

2. "B) It shouldn't matter anyway."
Why don't we just stick to that?

4. Because that won't dissuade low information voters
from going to the polls to vote for Mittens.

9. Shouldn't elections be about ideas...?

6. Because politics is war.
No blow is too low of a blow to keep evil out of power. Nice ninnies have no place in political theory or sausage making.

We work to undermine Romney because he's the only viable Republican in the primary. If we have to play dirty, we play dirty. If you don't want to play dirty, there is the sidelines and stay out of the way.

8. On the contrary, politics is the means by which civilized nations circumvent civil wars.
A rational debate and exchange of ideas are the attributes of a well-developed and sophisticated culture. On the other hand, the loutish approach you advocate is archaic and unprincipled.

5. The president should not involve himself in the low level disputes
of the presidential pretenders. I cringe when I even hear him mention their debates or other developments in their race.

7. Comletely overlooking the GLARING
problem here: Obama shouldn't even be engaging in this argument in the first place. Religion has no place in politics.
