themselves by arresting these protesters? When will they realize that these 'Occupy' protests are out to help protect police jobs as well?

There was some friction overnight, but no arrests as protesters continue to occupy an area in San Francisco's Financial District in solidarity with a New York City Wall Street protest, according to San Francisco police.

15. Do you have a link?
I haven't seen anything about mass arrests. I was watching the #occupysf twitter feed last night as the police were surrounding them - no mention of mass arrests last night or today.

Here's a link reporting from someone who was there:
http://occupysf.com/blog/14-from-the-camp/20-sfpd-ordered-to-steal-from-the-poor-hungry-and-homeless

<excerpt>

We made a call to action. Our numbers doubled within half an hour.

Occupy Oakland, along with many others, immediately responded when we announced that the cops were here to take us down. Thank you Occupy Oakland and all others!

Yet still, the police, wearing helmets and carrying batons, formed a perimeter around our goods and prevented us from saving anything while they supervised Public Works employees as they stole everything.

Occupy SF and Occupy Oakland surrounded the police cars and Public Works trucks to prevent them from leaving. There, we sang This Land is Our Land and We Will Not Be Moved.

The police stole food, water, shelter, and other necessities of life from the 99% at Occupy SF.

They kidnapped one of our friends.

Officer Pascua (#4014) said to multiple Occupiers that " I can't wait to get the chance to bust your face in."

Another officer struck a woman last night. Let's hold him accountable.

We saw multiple officers with tears rolling down their cheeks. We could tell that they wanted to join us.

17. S.F. police break up Occupy SF camp

S.F. police break up Occupy SF camp

Vivian Ho, Chronicle Staff Writer

Thursday, October 6, 2011

10-06) 11:43 PDT SAN FRANCISCO -- San Francisco police and Public Works crews dismantled a Financial District encampment early today that had been occupied by activists protesting economic inequality.

About 80 officers wearing riot helmets confronted some 200 campers and their supporters at about 12:45 a.m. at the Occupy SF camp in front of the Federal Reserve Bank's building at 101 Market St. near Main Street. The officers guarded city workers who removed tents, sleeping bags and other belongings...

...One protester was arrested for allegedly assaulting an officer...

About 100 protesters are still occupying the area where the camp stood, but without tents and sleeping bags.

"We are still at the camp indefinitely," Occupy SF said in a statement today. "We are calling on all of the 99 percent to mobilize ASAP. This occupation must continue to grow."

The issue in the thread was the inaccurate report in the OP, which the original poster has now confirmed as being incorrect.

26. Upon closer examination of this story, I have determined that I have posted inaccurate information
At 6 a.m. I was reading our local #Occypy website and browsing Twitter where I saw this mentioned twice.

In haste I posted this without verifying the information as I was determined to head out the door to begin my workday.

Appologies to DU for reporting inaccurate arrest information, I have requested a lock to the thread from the Moderators of this forum.

In the future I will attempt to post information in a well researched manner...

In closing; SOLIDARITY, -EF!

29. Listen to KGO's Ray Taliaferro in the archves. He's talks with a woman at 1:17am at the site
Heightened police presence, protesters compiling by taking tents down, etc. No arrests, but bad vibes are definitely in the air. 75 campers, 200 demonstrators (total), 50-60 police. DPW removing tent city stuff while police, with batons drawn, are maintaining order.

Starts around 17 minutes into the hour

30. That's right, just like what happened with the election.
A surge of insurmountable numbers made that happen.

Too many to fix the election for them and too many to deny the will of a resounding majority.

Democracy, remember that?
