Just came back from #OccupyTampa

First event was today. Honestly I was thinking it would be pretty small; it was just put together a week ago. However, there was a decent sized crowd, and it kept growing! The General Assembly was very cool, and they facilitators did a good job of informing and assisting.

We broke into workgroups and did some planning and sign making. There is no one sleeping there as yet, the legal group is looking into that, but we had a march around the bank buildings. We ended up with a nice crowd, everyone was heard, and the weather was gorgeous.

The park is directly across from the Police Headquarters, but they just watched on from a distance.

It was a great experience and I encourage anyone who can organize or get to one of the protests, don't hesitate!

13. Just found out about this, sorry I missed it.

I'm in Polk and know people in this area would be interested in attending.

I wonder if getting the Pink Slip Rick Scott people involved would be helpful? They are doing such a great job getting people to turn out from all over Florida.

check out their Facebook page... it is Occupy Tampa. Once you 'like" them, you can post that on the wall as a suggestion? At the General Assembly you can get on the stack to speak if you want to.

15. Def have to be careful with the camping out thing... These

ass hat clowns of cops will come in with box cutters while you sleep and raid the tent area. They have been doing this to the homeless tent cities for a while now... They will have no problem doing this to this group. Needs some coalition building. Reach out to multiple demographics. Hoping I can at some point join in... Thursday is not one of those days I can join in. It will be great when there is an everyday presence. Then people can come and go as their time limits them. Especially, for us with jobs and little one's in school.
