If someone in the WH doesn't say anything about what's been going
on in NYC since September 17, does it mean: They don't know? They don't care? They wish all the people protesting wall street would (a) be locked up; (b) go home - if they have one; (c) accept their fate; (d) continue?

Searched the WH website, including daily briefings and while there's mention of protests from Egypt, Syria, Libya and Greece - nothing on the 14-days in the US.

Just wondering on a rainy Saturday...

1. I read here earlier that there is a petition on the WH petition site
and that it has reached the required number of signatures.

8. Okay, thanks. Is it the one titled "Protect Our First Amendment Rights
and Protect Peaceful protestors from being unjustiably prosecuted?" Has 552 signatures, which is good.

Since this is "we the people" not the other way around, it doesn't count for a mention by the President or any WH official, however.

11. It's clear to some of us that those in the WH
Can only address the issues that their employers let them discuss. And that the Big Financial Firms are among their employers.

So if the WH does comment on these protesters, I doubt it will be words of encouragement. (Though I hope I am wrong.)

All we've got are numbers. I hope they clog WallSt. Everyone's watching this. If Occupy WallSt works, it'll spread to Occupy DC, Occupy _______.

16. Maybe acknowledging what's happening would be a start.
Since the Administration was supportive of wall street reform just seems a mention by some spokesperson would be appropriate. After all, wall street is the center of America's financial system and it's being occupied by non-financiers.

And why do you want the White House to say it? This is the people speaking. It's our right and there's no need to hear from the government.

25. The WH has spoken many times about wall street reform - how it's needed, etc.
Perhaps the treasury dept might acknowledge there are masses of people who aren't buying the so-called reform?

It's your right not to want to hear anything from the WH about this revolution spreading across the country; it's my right to ask why not.

33. Exactly!
Now the WH is going to ignore occupy Wall St. the same way they ignored Wisconsin...but OWS will grow to a size that they CAN'T ignore! So far, they refuse to lead or follow, so they're just getting out of the way-which sure as hell is NOT a platform that Obama can run on!

23. And if they will not acknowledge them imagine what they are going
to do on Oct. 6. Watch for us because we will either be there in body or in spirit as we are with the protesters in NYC and other areas. I don't think any of these so called leaders have any idea how many of us would be there if it were not for the limitations of distance and economics. This is our world they are destroying and we want it stopped.

But my guess is all of the reasons you mention in your OP.

I have ceased to have any hope for demonstrable compassion from this president regarding public protestors.

I've been to million plus marches that have been disappeared. This one, thanks to YouTube and the internet, might just reach the public, even without the "I see nothing" attitude" from the administration.

40. I think they're waiting to see where it goes and how far it goes
before saying anything. I would imagine the current administration is pleased with the events because if played correctly it will be helpful to the campaign.

And for those naive enough to think OWS doesn't have political implications to the Obama administration, well, that's sad.

President Obama and The Occupy Wall St. Protesters: Common Ground in Liberty Park?
Posted 11 days ago by Paaatriot101

It is actually amazing to me that no one is trying to bring these two together.
---
The people are speaking out against these corporations, and here we have a President echoing some of these same sentiments, and we do not discuss? Are we missing a golden opportunity?

Yes there is definitely some common ground to be found between the energized Occupy Wall St. crowd and President Obama, namely; calling these Big Corporations out onto the carpet, and flushing all the rotten lobbyist out and purging the system while we are at it.

CORPORATIONS NEED TO PAY JUST LIKE THE COMMON CITIZEN DOES< AND THEY NEED TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE AND ACCOUNTABLE NOT ONLY FOR THEIR ACTIONS, but for the consequences of their actions as well. Am I the only one who feels that there is a great opportunity being missed here? Let's get active and interested and include President Obama and the White House in our online occupy Wall St. email and comments campaign. Let the President know that yes we are interested in seeing corporations pay up... get conversation begun, a foot in the door, and maybe we can broaden concerns to include many of the other issues we would like to address.
