Stephen Colbert’s fake Gates foundation raises $100,000

A charitable organization associated with comedian Stephen Colbert just got a $100,000 shot in the arm thanks to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

DonorsChoose.org will receive the grant from the Seattle-based philanthropic organization thanks to the the entirely made-up Stephen & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Colbert introduced the organization earlier this month as a “foundation dedicated first and foremost to acknowledging that Melinda Gates is a looker.”


K, so it’s not all fun and games.


The fake organization asks fans to upload photos and share information about challenges facing educators and students. With 20,000 “members” of the foundation signed up, the Gates Foundation agreed to donate $100,000 to DonorsChoose.org.
