Rush Limbaugh LIE D' JOUR -- "Together We Thrive" was Obama pr stunt!
Edited on Fri Jan-14-11 04:18 PM by mistertrickster
No, it wasn't.

From Fox: University spokeswoman Jennifer Fitzenberger told FoxNation.com "it was our idea to do the t-shirts." She said distributing merchandise at a memorial was appropriate and rejected the charge that the University over-commercialized the service. "Our intention was to have something to remember after the event...something that symbolizes our community's spirit...which would live on." When asked if the University had worked with the White House or any partisan groups on any level regarding the t-shirts she said "no."

Apparently, this isn't good enough for He-Who-Dances-On-Graves Limbaugh. Turns out that one of his researchers discovered that a post-er to Obama for America had blogged using this phrase. That's proof positive the tee-shirts and their message 1. not only came from Team Obama but 2. are marxist.

However, the "together we thrive" posting was just somebody's blog post from Nov 2008. It was one of tens or hundreds of thousands of posts at OFA.

Not only that, "Together we thrive" is not a very original idea nor stated in a very original way. For instance, in 2009, the Western Mass. Regional Library System called their big grant and fund-raising project "Together We Thrive." http://thrivegrant.blogspot.com/

Here's a blog from last March called "Together We Thrive." It's about poetry and gardening. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2806364/together_we_thrive.html?cat=32

Here it is again last Oct at a social change website: http://www.netsquared.org/blog/ebane/together-we-thrive

Way back in 2004, a CHRISTIAN INVESTMENT GROUP named their blog "Together We Thrive." http://www.cwclarity.com/thrive/

Of course, none of this will matter for Rush Limbaugh specializes in "zombie lies," falsehoods that can be repeatedly killed and spring back to life in circulated e-mails, FReeper posts, and the right-wing noise machine.

But when your annoying CON acquaintances flog this lie, at least here's the ammo to shoot it down . . . once again.

2. ammo?...shoot it down?
How about exposure to truth...or something less like...actually, totally unlike, the language that has finally made it to the converstaion that words do have consequences, especially in politics...?

Just wondering about your choice of words here...
would seem to be a detractor to the overall point you are making here. :hi:

3. If we started today, it would take a decade to dig the sadism out of our language
that these people have methodically sown there.

12. Okay...if you say so
so, what's the difference between using it here, and those whose word choices are being called into question as inflammatory, harmful, and/or inciting?
Am not understanding the distinction between the two

13. Here's the distinction--shoot down the lies of opposition has no implication of
shooting the people that say the lies, imho.

Putting a cross-hairs on somebody's face, calling someone a "baby killer who has to be stopped," "hunt them with dogs," "use the 2nd amendment," etc. is something very different.

But you're right that words matter and sensitivity to connotation is important.

7. Limbaugh is a psychopath, and everything he says or does is psychopathic. He doesn't
have normal human emotions, nor does he have any sense of morality, ethics, or decency. I can't stand him, and I find it disgusting that his radio show has been blasted into military bases around the world for many years.
