The government is assisting my mom & my grandson (I thank the Dem's)

My mom lives in a seniors apartment subsidized by HUD. Mom's income is about $1,000 a month. Her small pension fluctuates every Jan. based on the stock and bond markets.

My grandson is getting Social Security and Medicaid. His diagnosis is that he has Ataxia caused by his epileptic seizures. My daughters x-husband pays $50 a month in support. He went back to school. As a full time student, that $50 is the maximum he has to pay under state law. This even though he is going to the most expensive university in the state and region. Beanie works two jobs, and lives with us to make ends meet.

I thank the Dem's for all they do for both my mom and grandson. I hope the conservatives never take away help like this that means so much!

I've never tried to hide my real life identity here on the DU. Please let my daughter have her privacy.

OS

2. Wow, my son is a full-time student at this state university and he still has to pay $364 a month in
child support for his only child.

3. And for all that, it's still near-to-impossible to get affordable housing in Northern Illinois.
It's years just to get on a list, to wait years to get help.

4. I understand

My mom only waited about 9 months. She will be 87 in July BTW.

5. It's a matter of population in the area, it would appear.
In less-populated areas of Washington state the wait was 2-6 months, depending on whether it was for an individual or a family. (section 8 housing voucher)

That was over two years ago, and with the Repub-created economy we now have, it could be much longer if requests rose.
