Watch Tunisian Government Fall Right Now!
Edited on Fri Jan-14-11 12:00 PM by Bragi
The Tunisan people today are toppling their dictatorial government and starting up a bright new democracy today. Some carry placards saying, are you ready -- "Yes We Can!"

You can follow all the glorious action via twitter, hashtags #sidibouzid or #tunisia

That will link you video, audio, and real-time street reports.

Things are moving quickly. The army has now supported the opposition, so it looks like the end is near.

Like the people that want to see the markets completely fail. Part of it is they want to see the show. But these events effect peoples lives in a very real way and not always for the better.

6. Live blog at Guardian UK; link and a snippet
http://www.guardian.co.uk/global/blog/2011/jan/14/tunisia-wikileaks?CMP=twt_gu

5.47pm: The Tunisian prime minister, Mohammed Ghannouchi, says in a TV address that president Ben Ali is "temporarily unable to exercise his duties, according to Reuters.

5.36pm: The Doha-based news network Al-Jazeera is reporting on its website that president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali has left the country and the army has taken control.

5.29pm: The position of the president, Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, appears precarious. It is not clear whether the order to take control of the airport came at the instigation of the president or the military high command.

5.23pm: It appears there are big developments afoot in Tunis. AFP is reporting that the military has taken over the airport, and Reuters says state television has declared that a "major announcement" is to be made to the Tunisian people "soon".

14. 'Palace coup'? How on earth can you describe this like that?
This is after several days' street protests, in which dozens of people were killed.

16. because that's what it is right now
not to diminish the sacrifices of the demonstrators, but the prime minister who is now in charge was very close to the guy who just fled the country.

17. So your theory is that the PM has secretly engineered all the demonstrations?
Pray, do give us your extensive evidence for this.

And, yes, you are indeed diminishing the sacrifices of the demonstrators. Claiming that you're not makes no difference.

20. A 'palace coup' is a coup in the palace
So you're saying that this is a coup led by someone already powerful in the government.

Amazing stuff. Rock on Tunisian youth, rock on. It's your future and your lives they fucked with.

Finally, a real revolution and not that fake color shit our state propaganda tried to snow us with this last decade.
