January 6, 2011: A strong package of filibuster reforms is currently being considered by the Senate. The reforms would end filibusters on motions to begin debate and would force Senators waging a filibuster to actually stay on the floor and engage in debate. The Senate’s current rules allow filibustering Senators to block any discussion of legislation they don’t like.

Twenty-five Senators are already sponsors or co-sponsors of this important resolution (S. Res. 10) – see the list to the right. We need every U.S. Senator to hear from his or her constituents that fixing the filibuster must be the first priority when the Senate reconvenes on January 24.

If your Senators are already co-sponsors, please thank them. If your Senators have not yet signed on to the rules reform package, please urge them to do so.

When you enter your address at the bottom of this page, our system will automatically look up your Senators' status and send the correct letter(s).

2. I'm in favor of this.
But we'll regret it when Republicans control the Senate two years from now.

4. I'm hopeful that after 2 years of GOP House Rule
That we will be back to Democratic majority in the House AND the Senate.

First, fix the fillibuster, then fix the campaign contribution mess. Corporations ARE NOT PEOPLE.

I'm worried that President Obama and democrats will need to literally raise BILLIONS in order to be elected in 2012. This is so wrong, but 2010 proved that elections can and will be bought by the GOP.

6. We'll have 25 Senate incumbents running for re-election. They'll have 10
It won't be impossible to win against these odds, but the numbers are not in our favor.

3. The present situation where a small minority can stop all progress
is just what has the bully minority thinking they can have their way if they threaten everyone else.
It is important we return our country to the rule of law and the majority.
