Laura Ingraham: Obama's Appearance at Tucson Memorial Was "Campaign Rally"
Insufferable talk radio blowhard Laura Ingraham graced Bill O'Reilly with her appearance on tonight's Factor for a chat about President Obama's speech at last night's post-shooting memorial in Tucson, Arizona. Her thoughts? It was a shameless "campaign rally." Watch inside.

Here's the bit during which Ingraham and O'Reilly discussed Obama's speech at the memorial, during which Ingraham repeatedly belittled/questioned the President's motives and stated, "It was a campaign rally. Nobody on Fox will say that, but I'll say it."

1. That's what they have settled on...
Ever notice how they test various lines and then all agree on what they think is the best one?

5. Exactly

The Reich propaganda bureau test markets talking points through their AM hate radio outlets. Once they have a meme that seems to have legs, it is blasted out to all propaganda outlets for use.

They did the same with the Wellstone funeral.

24. Yes. Their minions have since picked up the meme as well.
Heard it from two Repub co-workers and saw it in today's paper under a poll question.

I thought, "Wow, that didn't take long."

Apparently they are all reading from the same script. And is it a pretty lame ass script.

6. Hasn't there been plenty of discussion just on DU
whether or not the event in Tucson was a "memorial service" ?

And even if it was, who is to say that a little applause at certain moments is entirely out of line?

Some also suggested that President Obama himself seemed a little surprised by the cheering.

Can't Repubbies bring up points like this, also?

12. DU'ers say stupid stuff all the time. However, they don't have radio shows
or publish books. So we are going to hold Laura and her ilk to a higher standard.

30. Are you serious?
We don't in general make up facts and outright lie. That is a BIG difference. And we don't generally see the world from a narrow lens of hate. We come from a place of questioning. Can you give an example of a really baseless idiotic misrepresentation of reality that you saw on DU recently?

There is no comparison. You can use Maddow and Ollbermann as examples. Now, one example IS Stephanie Miller. She uses hateful rhetoric to attack the right. But she is an exception. I would have added Thom Hartmann a while back but he's really toned it down. So, where is the hate speech and illogical comment here?

Peace,
Tex Shelters

The poster said that DU'er raised the same objections that Laura Ingraham made so why shouldn't she be allowed to have the same objections.

My point was meant to be that Laura Ingraham gets paid to manufacture these kinds of ridiculous objections. As part of the right wing's propaganda campaign. So she is held to a higher standard than DU'ers.

33. Well, I'm not sure anyone on DU claimed the President's motives
were to turn it into a political rally, but Laura Ingraham seems to be just tightening up her sphincter and declaring that President Obama turned it into a political rally. There's no real discussion about the college-age crowd, or the fact that the event was not billed as a memorial service, etc. But, as you said, this is what she gets paid to do.

And maybe Laura Ingraham and I did not watch the same program, but President Obama did tell everyone to be seated.

it seemed evident on his face. I was uncomfortable with it as well. Why all the cheer at a memorial?

8. Wellstone Memorial Redux
They're trying to whip this up into the same old "outrage" they had about Paul Wellsltone's memorial service. And it stuck. They won't get away with it this time.

I wish they'd think up something new. This is the kind of thing they do when they have nothing left to complain about.

If anything, Ingraham got worse after her ordeal.

17. She should have seen my cousin's memorial
It was amazingly festive with a mariachi band and a gospel choir. He was a parish priest in multi-ethnic neighborhood where his life was celebrated as well as mourned.

People grieve in different ways and I doubt the majority of the people there at the Tucson memorial even knew any of the victims. They came because they were part of a larger community; something Laura Ingrahma does not get.

Laura Ingraham is nothing more than a partisan hack. Always was, always will be. I think she drinks vinegar to sour herself up.

campaign rally? Really this is where they are going?

If President Obama didn't show up to this event what would they have said?

Did you notice they haven't said anything about the Speaker of the House Boehner not going? He attended a fund raiser......crickets.

Here is the thing, they realize that President Obama's speech was the speech that elevated him to a higher standing and that is why they are attacking him now. They have to attack him...this is only going to get worse...

but I was surprised they didn't accuse Obama of having a messiah complex when he said that "Gabrielle Giffords" opened her eyes.

Besides, these asshole would piss on their own grandma if it sold a few books or got them a couple of ratings points. They don't care about people, it's a racket to them, especially people like Ingram, Hannity and Coulter.
