Don't let them bury the other Sharon Angle quotes !!!
Edited on Fri Jan-14-11 10:02 AM by cling2reality
The right is trying to deflect her "2nd amendment quip".
It was not a one time quip. Tough to spin these.
Can't claim these are metaphors or a regrettable gaffe.

She said that she believed Americans were preparing themselves for violent insurrection, and if she did not beat Harry Reid in the election then Americans should revolt and begin by assassinating Reid.

This is what the media should be asking about. This is not a crosshairs vs. surveyor mark issue.

There can be no room for alternate interpretation of these statements.
(imagine how cool it would be if we had a media that would really do their jobs)

Quote #1
http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/2010_Elections/2010-elections-primaries-test-republican-strength-california-nevada/story?id=10853479

"What is a little bit disconcerting and concerning is the inability for sporting goods stores to keep ammunition in stock," she told the newspaper. "That tells me the nation is arming. What are they arming for if it isn't that they are so distrustful of their government? They're afraid they'll have to fight for their liberty in more Second Amendment kinds of ways?

"That's why I look at this as almost an imperative. If we don't win at the ballot box, what will be the next step?"

Quote #2
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/plum-line/2010/06/sharron_angle_floated_possibil.html

"You know, our Founding Fathers, they put that Second Amendment in there for a good reason and that was for the people to protect themselves against a tyrannical government. And in fact Thomas Jefferson said it's good for a country to have a revolution every 20 years.

I hope that's not where we're going, but, you know, if this Congress keeps going the way it is, people are really looking toward those Second Amendment remedies and saying my goodness what can we do to turn this country around? I'll tell you the first thing we need to do is take Harry Reid out."

Quote #3
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/06/16/sharron-angle-floated-2nd_n_614003.html

"I feel that the Second Amendment is the right to keep and bear arms for our citizenry. This not for someone who's in the military. This not for law enforcement. This is for us. And in fact when you read that Constitution and the founding fathers, they intended this to stop tyranny. This is for us when our government becomes tyrannical...it's to defend ourselves. And you know, I'm hoping that we're not getting to Second Amendment remedies. I hope the vote will be the cure for the Harry Reid problems."

11. Thanks for going back for the links.
Welcome to DU. I did many a "oops forgot link" when I first started posting, too!

Your points are excellent. These quotes should be widespread and headlines everywhere.

2. Thank Dog she's not a religious figure, putting the same spin on The Bible.
Our various wars (Iraq, Afghanistan, Terra, Drugs) would be replaced with Crusades and an Inquisition.

4. comment she made when asked about it last sept.
http://blogs.abcnews.com/thenote/2010/09/angle-im-a-mainstream-american-reid-responsible-for-economic-mess.html

“We were having a discussion about the Founding Fathers and why they had put the Second Amendment into the Bill of Rights. And they felt that there were times when governments became tyrannical. That we needed to have a place for the people to be able to secure the blessings of liberty, which is what they did in the Revolutionary War, as you know.”

6. This cretinous excuse for a human female has no business being a candidate
for any position of leadership in the US.

Howeven Angle would definitely be very comfortable with being a member of Kim Jong il's circle of advisors, if not his successor. She would be ideal and just perfect as a "take no prisoners" despot, IMO.

7. Make sure to remind people that
Angle did not run for Senate on the tea party ticket.
There was a big capital R behind her name.

8. She got quite a few votes didn't she?
I don't remember the percentage but evidently a lot of Nevadans thought she'd be a fine senator.

10. That is my point
The crosshairs map is too easy to deflect.
It is also easy for media to find use of word "target" or a bullseye in democratic literature and claim they cancel each other out.

These type statements are not easy to explain and there are none on the left to cancel them out.

Is it even possible to more unequivocally advocate political violence without screaming bloody murder?

Sharron needs to go back to her knitting class and stay there.

Thanks for posting these.

That woman is out of her ever loving mind.

To calculate that it is to her advantage to stir up people to that degree, talk up violence so blatantly and repeatedly, in order to win an election is beyond alarming. Isn't that a crime, to incite people to violence?

Of course if anyone took her up on it she would spin like a ballerina.

Also, welcome to DU.
