Wall Street Occupation Continues
Formerly (and perhaps more aptly) named Liberty Park, the plaza has become home to the activists and the center point of an increasingly bitter standoff between protesters and police. In total, twelve individuals have been arrested, one having suffered a leg injury during the arrest. Activists accuse the police of being too aggressive, and videos have begun to appear online showing the behavior in question.

In the video posted below, officers are shown filming protesters, cuffing them and dragging them across the asphalt, while one young man screams that he can’t breathe and needs his inhaler. The onlookers shout at the police, saying “Shame” and calling them “cowards.”

8. Good and that is one reason
the other has to do with the place itself.

So at this point see my sig for where "hot stuff" goes. Most of it is pretty innocuous, but.

13. Actually they are.
There have been arrests on Wall Street. https://occupywallst.org/

It seems to be building. And another occupation group will arrive two blocks away on October 6.

12. I haven't seen any mention whatsoever of this story on MSNBC or CNN
Up to now, I've only seen images of the protest on Democracy Now and Thom Hartmann's show. Good for Keith! I'll be watching.

I was shocked Michael Moore didn't say a lot more about it, or voice more support for them. I don't remember Rachel commenting on his remark at all. If she didn't know about it I'd think that would have given her pause. Or a "What did you just say?" etc.

I doubt most in our "infotainment" media are going to cover it. MSNBC is just trying to fill a niche. They're still status quo when you get down to it. I'm thinking about what Cenk said after he left.

19. Them kids are pissed
rightfully so...

And the parallel to Tahrir is this... the early days nobody paid attention to them... and they were just angry and unfocused and young.

By the way Colbert will cover it, tongue in cheek of course.

Edited on Thu Sep-22-11 02:21 AM by nadinbrzezinski
democratic revolutions. Most were suppressed, brutally, but democratic reforms still came in the next decade.

This is a pretty good summary

25. Thanks.
I have heard that Bonaparte's promulgation of the Napoleonic Code and the metric system, etc., throughout conquered Europe helped to enable the incipient nationalism which unfolded.
