A Republican's Achilles' Heel
Rick Scott, the governor of Florida, promised 700,0000 jobs within 7 years. So, as the count begins to see if he can meet that number, we find the flaw in his strategy.

First, we need to understand how he thinks he's going to accomplish getting more jobs into Florida. When he says that less government means move private sector jobs, people automatically assume he's talking about deregulation. But there's more behind the reason to downsize government.

In Florida, 15000 public sector jobs were terminated. Taxpayers might think that this decrease will also mean less taxes for them to pay. But what happens instead, turns out to be a redistribution of wealth. When a Chamber of Commerce politician promises that his policies will bring in more jobs, one of the way he does this is to PROVIDE INDUCEMENTS to get those jobs to come down here. So whatever you think you save in taxes when he begins to cut back on the public sector, ends up paying for salaries in the private sector, anyways. The government is still doling out "entitlements."

What's more, some of these jobs they're going to bring in, will directly compete with small businesses in the area. So business owners who support Republicans for office, may find themselves in the unenviable position of paying to bring in more competition through government!

That's the Achilles' Heel. There will be no reduction in taxes and government will be more "in your face" than ever before as Tallahassee becomes a cronyistic distribution center, funneling your tax money to pay for someone else's job, anyway. The other negative, is that you will probably see an increase in local and county taxes to pay for police officers as the hardship cases from the lack of adequate social service begin to make the wrong choices in order to survive. Since afterall, Florida's cheap labor has become another draw to attract businesses

One of my friends works in a store that was hijacked by a corporation. She complained about the fact that there were more rules. ie MORE regulation at a personal level.

when they get their greazy mitts on the levers of power -- corporate or political -- they are Ultimate Control Freaks intent on stomping out human free will everywhere...Republicons are not just anti-liberals, they are more to the point anti-liberty.

5. I don't understand why we haven't been able to get this idea across?
Everyone know what it's like to work for "the man." I think the key is that they're keeping employees so scared, that any job is a good job.
