"The White House Won’t Touch Social Security. Great! Now, about Medicare ..." He may be going after
THE DRUG COMPANIES!!!! letting Medicare use its buying power to negotiate discount prices with the drug companies!

Washington, DC felt like a city on a deathwatch this week, after a series of White House news leaks said the President would announce cuts to Medicare and Social Security benefits next Monday.

One plan was to raise the eligibility age for Medicare and Social Security. Another involved an accounting gimmick that would cut the already-inadequate cost of living adjustments for Social Security benefits - and raise taxes on the middle class, too.

The response was negative, as most people might expect. Very, very negative.

Come Monday

Many elected Democrats have been dreading next Monday's speech ever since these trial balloons were first floated. They saw these proposals, probably rightly, as a fatal blow to their reelection chances.<snip>

Of course they care NOW...we all know it's all about THEM and their reelection. :eyes:

1. Scary Obama...
He already went after Medicare...$500 billion were cut in the affordable care act...there is a ton of waste in Medicare and that is what Clinton and now Obama is going after.

5. AGREE 100%
those are the things Obama wants to tackle....but when people here hear that Obama wants to deal with Medicare they always assume the worse of Obama and think he's going to take it away from Grandma :-(

7. Must be those constant, anonymous and unsourced blog entries saying he's destroying Social Security.
All evidence to the contrary.

I'm sure it's JUST A COINCIDENCE that right after the Reps get in trouble for a budget that would have privatized Social Security and Medicare, we get a 24/7 bombardment from always-negative "left wing" blogs spreading the baseless claim that Obama is trying to destroy Social Security and Medicare.

JUST A COINCIDENCE. After all, even though most folks here believe that mass media is just a large-scale brainwashing machine, it's absolutely impossible to think anyone could ever try to feed biased or misleading information to the left.

;)

4. Of course, certain people will studiously ignore that.
For them, the "big lie" of Medicare and Social Security cuts has replaced reality.
