Light snow helps battle Minn. wildfire
Calmer winds, cooler temperatures and a few moments of sleet and light snow brought encouragement Wednesday as firefighters continued efforts to contain a blaze that was in a "pause mode" — days after it moved at breakneck speeds, swallowing nearly 160 square miles of forest along the Minnesota-Canada border.

1. There's been snow here on the highest peaks, too, right on schedule
I just hope the moisture keeps up. I'm tired of having everything crunchy because we've had so little rainfall for so long.

3. Glad to hear the sleet helped with the fire. Not glad to have snow/sleet
so early in the year. It has been really cold here all day and light drizzle all afternoon. Frost last night but did not seem to do much to the gardens. I am bringing in my one remaining potted flower tonight though. I love the coolness - hate the snow and ice.

4. We rented a houseboat up in the International Boundaries - heaven on earth.
One of the two best vacations we ever had.

So peaceful and serene and what untouched natural beauty.

I hope it isn't ruined or if it is it will come back even better than it was.
