http://www.opednews.com/articles/Media-Whitewash-on-Cheney-by-Gustav-Wynn-110912-791.htmlWhen I saw Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson interviewed by Lawrence O'Donnell as guest host on Keith Olbermann's MSNBC show Countdown in March 2010, I thought the whitewash might be over. Wilkerson was the first invited guest when Cenk Uyger launched his own MSNBC show in February 2011 to elaborate on how he and his boss, Secretary of State Colin Powell were manipulated by Dick Cheney and George Tenet, and I imagined it was all going to bust open.
But no one farther up the media food chain has followed up on numerous Bush administration insiders decrying the Iraq war's illegality, even when Colin Powell claimed he was manipulated and demanded action. Criminal investigations should kick in under the Legislative mandate to enforce US law and treaties when the Executive and DOJ proves impotent. Ironically one of the largest crimes on the table could be lying to Congress, but they remain at bay thanks to strong media cover.
One smoking gun was found in a "black site", itself prohibited by US law and military tradition, "offshored" and outsourced to Egyptian hands. It became the crucial ending point in Colin Powell's career, a kernel of information that informed a crucial TV speech promising Iraq had links to the 9/11 terror operation meant to bleed America dry economically.
The news or "news interview" media outlets who are part of this whitewash surely have interesting reasons for aiding wrongdoing at the highest level of US government, abandoning their FCC-granted obligation to serve the public good.
