Watching the President give a speech in Ohio right now
There is a stark difference between the size of the crowds at President Obama's speeches compared to the crowds at former President Bush's speeches. The polls can show whatever numbers they want but the numbers don't backup the way that people at these events receive President Obama. Remember how small the controlled crowds were at Bush's events? Compare that with the thousands of people that show up to every public speech President Obama gives. I support President Obama. I believe he is capable of doing more great things and so do a lot of other Americans.

Edited on Tue Sep-13-11 01:51 PM by Romulox
"shitting on" a thread about...a speech about that self-same jobs bill? Sounds like you're embarrassed by the policy, or why shouldn't I bring it up?

16. You do not "mention a key point"
You are being abnoxious and annoying. A fair discussion would be to mention the Korea free trade agreement and explain why you do not like it. Your "question" in the context was pure snark and you know it.

And by the way, I don't think I am too happy with these agreemetns either, but I do nto think that I happen to hold the perfect answer to all the questions, and therefore the fact that I do not agree or like EVRYTHING that is being suggested is not an issue.

22. Perhaps you missed his speech this past Thursday?
"You are being abnoxious and annoying. "

Sorry to annoy you with the President's own policy positions! :silly: :hi:

The American Jobs Act answers the urgent need to create jobs right away. But we can't stop there. As I've argued since I ran for this office, we have to look beyond the immediate crisis and start building an economy that lasts into the future - an economy that creates good, middle-class jobs that pay well and offer security. We now live in a world where technology has made it possible for companies to take their business anywhere. If we want them to start here and stay here and hire here, we have to be able to out-build, out-educate, and out-innovate every other country on Earth.

This task, of making America more competitive for the long haul, is a job for all of us. For government and for private companies. For states and for local communities - and for every American citizen. All of us will have to up our game. All of us will have to change the way we do business.

My administration can and will take some steps to improve our competitiveness on our own. For example, if you're a small business owner who has a contract with the federal government, we're going to make sure you get paid a lot faster than you do now. We're also planning to cut away the red tape that prevents too many rapidly-growing start-up companies from raising capital and going public. And to help responsible homeowners, we're going to work with Federal housing agencies to help more people refinance their mortgages at interest rates that are now near 4% -- a step that can put more than $2,000 a year in a family's pocket, and give a lift to an economy still burdened by the drop in housing prices.

Other steps will require Congressional action. Today you passed reform that will speed up the outdated patent process, so that entrepreneurs can turn a new idea into a new business as quickly as possible. That's the kind of action we need. Now it's time to clear the way for a series of trade agreements that would make it easier for American companies to sell their products in Panama, Colombia, and South Korea - while also helping the workers whose jobs have been affected by global competition. If Americans can buy Kias and Hyundais, I want to see folks in South Korea driving Fords and Chevys and Chryslers. I want to see more products sold around the world stamped with three proud words: "Made in America."

but replied nevertheless. And no, I did not miss the speech, and as I already mentioned I am definitely not thrilled with the FTAs, but I like the rest, and the FTAs are not the most important component of the proposal.

Thanks for the report. As usual, the people are listening to the President and applauding what he's saying. More votes there than here, I'd guess.

I'm encouraged by the response out on the hustings.

8. Are you talking about the KORUS FTA that was signed in 2007
and renegotiated and signed again in 2010? What does that have to do with the American Jobs Act? If it is a part of it, which I can't find, it isn't a major platform of the act. And you bringing it up without any context just to cast aspersions on the President and the thread is what I mean by you shitting on it.

19. The President promoted "free trade" with Korea last Thursday when he presented his "jobs speech"
What happened? Did he forget about that part, or did it not make it into the bill? EDUCATE rather than complain, because I am not making up the President's linking of "free trade" with Korea with this "jobs bill". :hi:

I liked it when he said the repubs don't want to pass it because it would be a win for him. He nailed them. He is a great campaigner, and a great advocate for the people. Everyone should remember that he is on our side.

11. I hear ya on how you feel
Me? I can't get too excited about trickle down stimulus solving the problems. It is like trickle down economics. It just doesn't work. Divide 110M households by 470B and lets send every household some money and see what happens. What would $4,000 in every household do? That is what this thing costs.

12. Take the stimulus presented at 470B
It is MORE trickle down stimulus. Send every household 4000 bucks and see what happens rather than siphon it through the trickle down robber barons so nickles and perhaps a dime filters down.

17. OK. Then work on legislative races. That's where we can do
the most good of all. Obama's got the presidency wrapped up. Every Democrat elected to Congress or to a state legislature is crucial. It should be everyone's focus in 2012. If your district is impossible, work in the closest district where it is possible. If we work together in this, we can turn this around in 2012. I can't see a downside.

18. I will be out there like I am every election
Local, general, state, etc. Some years I do a bit more, and this season is just getting geared up. The mid-terms were a disaster. I saw some encouraging news today in a poll where people are shifting back to the democrats. We see this ebb and flow all the time. I am really looking at the elections today, and the results. I think they will be either closer than anticipated or perhaps a shocker in NY where the Democrat Weprin wins. I may disagree with what is going on with the Obama administration at times because I am hard to please, but I am far from a wind shifting idiot when rubber meets the road.

That way the attendees had no choice but to fill up the seats and they were expected to be highly enthusiastic.

Why wouldn't he mention it in Ohio, when he himself brought up the trade issue as a component of his larger economic package just this past Thursday. During his "jobs" speech. :hi:
