Mentally ill man Banished from town - this is what we do in "civilization"

The head of the B.C. Civil Liberties Association says the courts have to do a better job of handling mentally ill criminals after a man was banished from his hometown.

Mikael Arrak, 26, was convicted of criminal harassment and ordered by a judge in Nelson, B.C., to leave the city.

Arrak, who has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, was found guilty after speaking to the mother of his ex-girlfriend on the street. Arrak had previously been convicted of harassment and ordered not to speak with his former girlfriend or her family.

Would this be the appropriate way for someone like yourself if, say, your wife or hubby did something that caused you to yell? Do we know what caused him to "harass" whoever? It doesn't matter. He's "bipolar". Bipolar things do not have feelings. Run him out of town like some animal. This is indeed how we view and treat people with invisible disabilities.

Smart guy. Totally humiliate someone who is most likely going through intolerable suffering. In Japan "losing face" is or was rectified through suicide. If he comes back and shoots up the town they can blame it on mental illness.
