5. It was in Asmara...
which is like 7700 feet above sea level, and has a avg. temperature in the 60s in June and July. They get about an inch of precip per month.

7. I don't know.
That's up there in elevation. And I'm not familiar with the geography of the region (I just looked up some weather stats).
But, like snow in LA, if you weren't around when it last happened, it's bound to be surprising.
That said, I just lived through Oklahoma's hottest summer in decades. It's a shame conservatives have politicized climate change.

8. Apparently it was near Asmara, Eritrea which is at about 7800 feet or so
If it were in some of the mountains near there, I could see snow. According to Weather Underground, the high in Asmara today was 73 F, low tonight will be 54 F, and rainy.
