Notes For The Underground, from Senior_Iconoclast
AKA my 82 year old father (who obviously knows his Dostoyevsky)
Some of you may remember his first missive here:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x1741452

After I told him about the reception that got here, he sent me this for posting (his title, btw):

Can you spell Oligarchy? A small group running a country. The country has a
small middle class & a large number of poor people with all the wealth held by
the few. How does this description hold up for the US? Less than 10% of the
population has more than 70% of the wealth. ( I believe these numbers are skewed
favoring the wealthy) Most of the entry level jobs that could have led to the
middle class have been shipped overseas. Even a college education does not
guarantee a job.

How about the Roman Empire? No middle class. Nothing the rest of the world
wanted. Give the people bread and circuses as long as the money held out. Then,
BAM.

Those that are still around and remember the Depression and World War 2 should be listened to, people!
