The point is unlikely lost on seniors that changes rejected during GWB's terms are being considered
yet again during a Democratic administration.

Ergo, if there were a Republican president (the logic may go), changes to social security would again be rejected, and we would have the status quo.

1. Unfortunately, many of the seniors I know
are Republicans.

I heard one Republican at our local government-supported senior center complain about the government. I don't think he realizes that there would be no senior center without tax dollars. And of course the meals on wheels the senior center prepares are paid for with tax dollars.

Many of our seniors forget that medicare is a government program. Of course, Obama is doing everything he can to cut costs; for example, medicare fraud is being prosecuted at a much higher rate under him. But Obama does not believe that medicare should be abolished the way Perry does.

Another 86-year-old Republican widow who lives on her husband's teacher's pension has no idea that the party she supports is trying to destroy public education and the pensions that public school teachers now receive.

I wouldn't count on white seniors who grew up in rural areas doing anything other than voting for Perry.
