Another type of Prejudice
I loathe TV. But, I hulu and netflix so I can watch Pawn Stars, American Pickers, American Restoration, and Antiques Roadshow. I love the history of things. I actually don't like the characters who "do anything for a buck." But I digress.

The commercials between segments often depict Gen X'ers or whatever the 20 somethings are called now as dull headed fashion slaves who are only cool because they own "X" product. They are shown as hip urbanites totally satisfied because they know how cool they are, and that's all that counts in life. Perfect clothes, hair, car, PHONE, and attitude. Or they are shown as geeks who are unaware how geeky they are. But everyone's eyebrows tell the viewer who's cool, and who's not.

God, I hate TV and modern culture. Cheers, Scrooge.

3. All commercials do that to a point.
X corporation is given demographics of viewers. They buy time that will give them the most viewers who will buty their product.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commercialism

Commercialism, in its original meaning, is the practices, methods, aims, and spirit of commerce or business. Today, however, it primarily refers to the tendency within open-market capitalism to turn everything into objects, images, and services sold for the purpose of generating profit.<1> There is also a tendency for intangible things such as happiness, beauty, or health to be given a monetary value (monetization) and to be spoken of as commodities.

Commercialism can also refer to the domination of things by business/corporate interests, or the exploitation of intangible things for private gain.

Commercialism is often closely associated with the corporate world and advertising, and often takes advantage of advancements in technology.

The related term "commercialised" is often used in a disparaging fashion, implying that someone or something has been despoiled by commercial or monetary interests. The holiday, Christmas, is a noteworthy example of this concern, with denunciations of the occasion's commercialisation dating as far back as 1850.

In basic economic terms, commercialism is when both the manufacturing and consumption are geared towards personal usage.

4. American Pickers have opened a store here in Nashville. I think Mike Wolf and Frank Fritz
are progressive minded. Mike is involved in the arts and the things they do and say on the show reflect progressive thoughts. They make a buck or two but they are compassionate with people.

5. I don't mind watching "Storage Wars"
occasionally to see what sorts of stuff people keep in storage.

Hubby likes "Pawn Stars" and "Operation Repo"

I can't stand them because of all the bickering and arguing. Every. Single. Show.

As far as the Gold family goes, I would push them out of a moving car on the Autobahn in a second...
