I just came from the post office where
over a PA system came blaring Jesus music - christian station seranading the public standing in line about getting right with Jesus

Am I dreaming - what the hell is happening here? Now we have to get indoctrinated while we wait to purchase stamps? Is it everywhere?

1. That's a gov't building. I don't think they are allowed to do that.

5. Montana or not, it's wrong. I wonder if this sort of thing can be reported to someone?

13. Well, I thought about confronting the guy
at the window when I finally got up there and then I thought, don't make a big scene here, probably all those people in line are loving this stuff. But if this happens again, I am going to speak to the station superintendent.

21. And if that doesn't work
And you want to take it further, google for the ADL (formerly the anti defamation league) or for one of the athiest or humanist groups

18. Heck, you want to bring someone down on them like a ton of bricks?
Report them to ASCAP, I doubt they're paying any licensing for it. Set one set of vipers against the other...

11. I live in Montana, and I have never heard that. I hope that is only happening in
your local post office, and I hope it ends very soon.

--now it is spreading like a bad fungus, thanks to big help by Repug fat cats who have used it to their own advantage. Now they seek to institutionalize it at state and federal levels.

I live in a liberal enclave, but I am still aware of all the right wing thinking that is infecting everything. I saw this trend back in the 90's and hoped something would prevent it's getting to these levels. But progressives have not been effective in stopping it. Progressives tend to play fair while the other side does not. I even know intelligent people who will tell you that global warming is a myth--very intelligent people who are Global Warming Deniers. It is amazing what fear does to people.

If progressives could split off into our own country, I'd go there to live. This country we are in now is dysfunctional--it is not working as a compromise between liberal and conservative. We are in a whole new era which makes 'The Handmaids Tale' seem more reality than fantasy.

We all want to feel good about where we live, the community and country we are a small part of. And that feeling of well-being and positive alliance has been denied. It is a gladiator pit and the struggle is to the death. They do want to kill us (not literally but sometimes there's no difference between literal and figuratively if you are living as a prisoner). Why should we have to live in such a "cold civil war" era? It seems unfair, but that is our lot. And the sooner we realize it and step up to defend what we know is right, the better. But we must do it as a group, wherever we happen to live.

4. Never have heard it here, yet! That, is absolute bullshit to have to

listen while a captive. I would file a formal complaint if it continues. Maybe is was just one crusader on today taking prisoners for Jesus. Here's what I've never gotten, if god is so great, Jesus is so great, why in the US are people always pushing religion on people. If it were that great people would gravitate without a con job. I guess it's raining big time now in Texas and the economy is all fixed thanks to Perry's prayer fest.

6. If you're interested, I'd inform the person in charge,
slowly first, 'I heard music; didn't like it very much.' If person objects, inform that you believe its 'inappropriate' for such music in such Government place. If no success + you want, formally complain.

With you here!

17. If that was the music, I wouldn't object
because I love the Doobies and all of their music. I am an atheist, but I love that song because I love the beat.

19. I was just thinking if they were playing a radio station or a muzak format
That song would have probably been on it.

I am curious to know if it was just the one song or multiple songs.

9. Strange. We don't get ANY music at the post office
In fact I don't think I've ever heard music is any government office. Some idiot must have thought this was a great idea.

14. A few years back, there were times when that kind of
music was played in my dentist's office, when the dentists were gone, but staff was there for cleanings and stuff. I complained to the dentist when I saw him and I'm sure other patients did too. The next visit and on subsequent visits the music was gone and the usual elevator stuff was back on. Find out whose in charge of that PO and complain. There is never any music played in any of our local post offices. I wonder why they are doing it in yours?

16. Any chance it was a local station?
Only radio stations I've ever heard play at my post office have been local stations and that's usually when there are news reports, local sporting events covered, or the weather report.

22. Use the USPS online complaint form.
https://www.usps.com/customer-service/customer-service.htm

Follow up with a complaint to the postmaster at post office involved.

26. How was the service?
I wouldn't have a problem with the music. I'm only there for a few minutes. The workers are there for their full shift. They can listen to whatever they want IMO.

How long has this been going on? I never noticed it on the handful of times we were there.

I miss Montana like mad, btw.
