An Irene Update From Augusta, Maine.

Hi everybody. I can only speak of my experience here in my area.

By the time Irene arrived it had been downgraded to a tropical storm. As we've seen in news reports, Vermont got hit hard. We just got the edge of the storm here with rain and winds. Some trees were downed and about 12,000 people were without power in Kennebec County (our home). My best friend lives about 25 miles west of us in Lewiston. They had it worse than us but, compared to Vermont and the south, we got off SO EASY.

We are grateful and we have nothing but sympathy and compassion for those who were not as fortunate.

is high and dry but many in Vermont are not so lucky... I too am grateful and hope people can work together to get us back in shape
