It's like saying, "You've failed medical school? Great! Then you're the guy that I want to have perform brain surgery on me."

Morons are the LAST people who should have any say over economic policy, foreign affairs, domestic social policy, or any other function of government... Because they're fucking MORONS.

Anti-intellectualism is like a suicide pact without knowing that you're committing suicide.

1. It's easier for the big business interests to control a moron.

7. This is a fallback plan
The GOP read Condon, tried brainwashing, it didn't take, so now they are using dim bulbs.

2. Well I've been waiting for the all important Kiss endorsement
And I'm sure a lot of my fellow citizens have also. It's so critical to know the political recommendations of a guy who is famous for having a long tongue and painting himself white.

4. I have theory of power structures in the two parties
Edited on Sun Aug-28-11 05:44 PM by rurallib
On the Dem side, the power is mostly with the elected officials, the higher the more power. However ultimate power lies with the people.
Ergo, a President while powerful is beholden to the people ultimately.

In the Republican party, i see the very rich as those at the top. Basically power is based on wealth and the willingness to use it to buy elections/ influence policy.
Below them are the liaison levels - that is those in the the think tanks, the religionists, the lobbyists and groups like ALEC. This level is the group that tells the electeds what to do.
- therefore you do not want people of intelligence or real ego but more of a stooge type person. Someone who will do the bidding and can pretend or believe it is their own idea. This is where a Republican President would fit in their hierarchy along with his staff and congressional leaders.

Next level would be a repeat at the state level
Then comes the congress critters and state legislators, whose main job is to get elected and vote the way they are told.

Then comes small business and farmers who may occasionally have a legislator pretend to care about them.

Finally are the working people on whom much of the policy is focused to keep them in line and out of any power.

They much prefer an uneducated daddy figure.

8. H.L. Mencken has been proven right on at least two occasions. Reagan an Dubya.
“As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.” - H.L. Mencken

And, Mark Twain on far too many occasions:

"History has tried to teach us that we can't have good government under politicians.  Now, to go and stick one at the very head of government couldn’t be wise." Mark Twain

11. The whole "president you want to have a beer with" thing started
with Andrew Jackson.

The best kind of leaders, in my opinion, are those who are extremely smart yet aren't snobbish and can still identify with people.

6. Now you know Perry is not a moron, I hope. We all made fun of
"W" but even if we hate him he was one of the most effective presidents in my lifetime as far as getting what he wanted.

9. Perry's a fucking idiot and Bush was a fucking bully... That's why he was successful
There's no excuse to "play nice" with these assholes, precisely because they get what they want.

Just because they've had a measure of success doesn't make them right, it makes them all too dangerous for our own good.

13. Bewsh got what he wanted because he lived in a corporate-built and protected bubble.
From the rigged voting and eventual right-stacked Supreme Court stoppage of the count to his rubberstamp rodeo masquerading as a Congress to the full-tilt support of Wall Street, Corporations, the Wealthy and The MIC, this guy had his staircase built for him the minute he was shat out of the Ivy League (also a string-pulling by Dada). This doesn't make him smart or effective, this made him a blessed neo-dictator. The people BACKING him were the smart ones.

And Rick Perry IS a damned moron.

16. One problem I see.
It was NOT that Bush was "effective" in getting what he wanted, the republican congress pretty much got what "they" wanted, which in fact was what the rich and the corporations wanted. Bush simply signed everything that the republican congress sent to him, not questions asked. He was and is still a MORON!

As for Perry, well time will tell. He sure seems to be Bush II, and everyday he speaks he is sounding more and more like a MORON who has been bought and paid for the the big money in this country. He, like bush does what he is told to do. Seems like more and more information is coming out that pretty much puts him in the same class as W.

21. Yes just like the kid in a candy store
Bush got whatever he wanted and we will be paying for years.
Perry should brag on Texas numbers such as spending almost 3
to 1 with prisoners getting almost $21,000 a year a d school
kids about &7,100 a year in funds. Now doesn't that show
his intelligence.

20. Think of it this way
You typically hang around with people who are somewhat like you are. I don't mean race or gender-wise, but personality/interest-wise. So for example, a Princeton professor probably doesn't seek out gang-banger friends and vice versa. Well, the moron only understands other morons; complex socioeconomic arguments seem like Mandarin Chinese to the moron whereas "I'll bring back $2/gallon gas" is easy to understand (never mind how that couldn't be accomplished as easily as stated).

People wanna understand one another. For example, if you don't speak any Russian you probably don't seek out Russian friends. If you're a moron that capacity to understand is limited to other morons OR those smart enough to manipulate you through moron-speak. And given how many morons there are in this country, morons (or those who play one on TV) are electable. Sadly, I wish I were being ironic but I'm speaking in perfect seriousness.
