Watching CNN now - Showing some terrible flooding in New England
The video they're showing is flooding in Brattleboro, Vermont. But they say it can happen all over New England and parts of upstate New York.

They expect that this flooding is expected to happen throughout tonight.

2. This is what FEMA was warning about
Massive flooding in New England.

The map they had up showed over 50% of the counties expecting flooding - not just today, but for the next few days as things crest.

The aftermath is bringing its own horror.

18. George Wiil
George will probably doesn't care because it isn't affecting his current location.

25. The warnings for New York City turned out to be overhyped

The warnings for Long Island, Connecticut, upstate New York, western Massachusetts, Vermont may have been vastly under-hyped.

26. NYC
I think there may have bee too much focus on New York City to the detriment of other cities. People complain of East Coast bias, but it is more like DC and New York bias. The media doesn't really care about anywhere on the east coast other than New York City and DC.

27. Hindsight is all you're going on
Given how this storm was over 500 miles wide and moving so slowly added up to the common sense of getting people to take major precautions.

Care to wave your degree and experience in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science?

Given this aftermath of terrible flooding, your assessment isn't on firm ground, imo.

3. Western MA and Southern VT are getting smacked
Massive flooding, evacuations. The covered bridge in my hometown was washed away. A 21 year old woman was swept away in the water in Wilmington, VT. :(

22. +1
Massive amounts of water churning as it rages through narrow streets just isn't enough for them to bother with.

They're already combing the AP for news of missing blondes.

40. Flooding is the catastrophe that keeps on being annoying
Long after the initial flood you're stuck with days if not weeks of cleanup, getting rid of all that sludge and water containing diety knows what, replacing damaged appliances, floors, furniture, walls...it just doesn't make for good television.

I hate floods.

15. My CT neighborhood has been warned of major flood tomorrow
Warnings that it will be one of the top 3 floods of the last 100 years. The river turns just beyond my house so my house sort of sits on a peninsula. Depending on which side of the house, I'm 500 to 1500 feet from the river. The good news - I hope - is that every side is woods. I expect the woods to absorb the flood waters.

36. No evacuation orders yet.
The road leading out of my neighborhood is uphill so it wouldn't take much effort to get to higher ground. I'm fairly certain we'll stay dry.

It's beyond words. It won't be over quickly either. And it's also NJ, NH, NY state, probably also MA, CT, and other states too if not all of them.

I was tipped off to this Vermont video just now by wunderground on twitter:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsdfsY2BBiw&feature=youtu.be

I heard it said on the Weather Channel that NJ's rainfall for instance, would be the same as if the entire state were covered by a lake 5 inches deep. :(

39. I hope not, but it could be.
It's for sure that it won't be over for a while. Water takes time to run down from the mountains. And it takes time to dry up. I hope the east gets sunny days for a while to come.

It's really too bad we can't give all this water to TX, and other places that need it.
