That's what the loathsome Governor Perry did yesterday in Iowa. Let's hope Americans aren't stupid enough to fall for this slimeball.

But in the current USA maybe.

Edited to add: Here's an example of the kind of people we are up against.

I just had a run in with a conservative

I've never been as upset with a conservative as I am right now. I made an off handed remark about how it feels like oil companies are gouging us because oil prices have fallen so much and how gas prices haven't changed. He started attacking me for being a liberal and telling me why don't I go pray to emperor Obama to give me more of his tax dollars so I can afford gas. Then he said if it wasn't for Obama gas prices would be lower but Obama is collecting the extra money for his political coffers. Then he said something about how this proves that Social Security should have been privatized and if it wasn't for idiots like me who stopped it sr. citizens wouldn't have to wait to retire. Then he goes on about how it's all my fault that Jimmy Carter forced Fannie Mae to buy bad loans and that's why the economy crashed. Now obviously this is all bullshit, but I've never been as angry and I can't seem to get over how reprehensible this guy was. I think what bothered me was this is a well educated 50 something year old. Not some Naive teenager. I couldn't believe the vitriol that was coming from this guy. I just wanted to grab him and shake him and plead to him to stop watching Fox News and listening to Rush Limbaugh. I've had to listen to the song "Falling Slowly" about 20 times just to be calm enough to type this. It makes me so sad that people actually have these thoughts.

2. Freaking RepuliWankers want to throw American elders under the bus
while they give more more more tax breaks to their rich cronies.

Disgustipating.

3. I still don't think so
America is in a bad place, mentally, these days. But I don't think the majority are ready to repeal the New Deal just yet.

6. What the proles want doesn't matter
If Wall Street wants it, Wall Street will get it, no matter which team is in power.

5. Almost as bad is when Democrats want to negotiate
with these people. Any concession is assisting them in their ultimate goal---destruction of the New Deal.

7. If enough low information voters fall for it, Yep!
I could see that happening, when people only vote with sound byte information carefully doled out and not the rest of the story. That is why the lies need to be made public by Dem's all over the news especially by President Obama.

8. What I'd really like to see is these tea baggers put their money
... where their mouth is. If they think SS and medicare is so bad, they should be the first to forfeit their 'entitlements.' I watched a little of the GOP straw poll and it seemed to me, many (@ 60%) in the audience were over 60 years old. And from personal experience, I think these people are so dumb that they don't realize that their SS security checks are in jeopardy.

My personal experience--an elderly family member who after listening to Rush Limbaugh would complain about entitlement programs, then a minute later complain that the amount of her SS was too low. When I pointed out the hypocrisy of her SS check being an entitlement, she'd go off in a huff.

9. I wonder what happened to brain function in these people.

I know a woman who complains that Social Security is a fraud and a scam, while her mentally challenged grandson gets money from SSI disability every month -- I guess she thinks the SSI funds just fall out of the sky, a beneficence from her loving heavenly father, or something???

who knows.

Listening to Faux apparently destroys the ability to reason.

Edit: Welcome to DU, btw!
