Do people realize how HUGE the Keystone project is, that it will go UNDER the MIssissippi River?
That it will cross 17 major bodies of water. The Keystone pipleine isn't any ole pipeline running through a few mid-western states.

1. The more I read about this, the angrier I become.
And the the more horrified I become too.

Recommended.

15. That map excludes a lot of info such as the pipeline to Michigans Marathon refinery.
Check out these maps

16. True. And thanks. And check out these maps of the gulf (nice match to Keystone)
People have no idea how complex the petro infrastructure has become:

3. yeah, but that's okay... oil floats
If there's a leak, it will simply bubble up to the top, to be promptly scooped up by a happy, unionized, well-benefitted oil-company worker.

Just like that leak last year in the Gulf.

6. Just remember that all that tar sand oil...
...is going to produce artificial unicorn farts, which is a very clean energy source. It normally takes dozens of beef-and-bean burritos to get enough unicorn flatus to power a Civic for a day, but thanks to the oil energy companies and their artificial unicorn flatus, a single cup of tar sand sludge can make enough flatus to power a Civic for three years!

7. And yet our elected officials think it's the bees knees...
The thing is this is already a done deal, it will happen and there is little we can do to stop it...

What bothers me most is that this administration has done nothing to squeeze out any concessions, anything at all to make up for allowing this project, which could do damage to our environment.

Ever since Regan took the oval office, we have done little to nothing to lessen our dependency on oil as our main energy source.

These days I gather solace that we could not have children.

21. How is it vital for our country?
You do understand that we aren't getting this oil. The tar sands are simply being transported through the USA.

We're on the hook for building and maintenance as well as the inevitable clean up costs that arise when the pipeline is damaged or destroyed.

The oil gets sold to China. The profits go to the oil companies. The jobs go almost entirely to Canadians.

How is this vital to the USA?
