Hey Eric Cantor, here is an update on the hurricane you might want to address
From an earlier thread of mine/news stories: But, this time around, a spokesman for a top GOP Congressman in the thick of the spending fight says her boss will demand that lawmakers pony up spending cuts to make up for any disaster expenditures.

A spokeswoman for Rep. Eric Cantor, (R-VA) told Talking Points Memo, a website, that Mr. Cantor “has consistently said that additional funds for federal disaster relief ought to be offset with spending cuts.”

----------------------

An engineer that used to work for me is in the military. He works at the pentagon mostly. He is actively engaged in this hurricane. He has been linking all day to things like this:

http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150758952155332.724413.256652635331

He and other guard members (yes, he is in the guard but also works in VA on special projects) in his area are working around the clock - and if those brave people need assistance are you going to blow them off until it is paid for?

I thought this was the UNITED states? You know, the idea that we are all in this together?

My friend and many others are out there busting their asses, posting updates on power outages, road closings, etc - working hard to help people - and you come out ahead of all of this talking about funding?

Does the term EMERGENCY mean a dang thing to you and other rw'ers? We the people, who pay your salary, might well need some assistance asap - and ahead of it all you are telling us 'well, we can help if we cut school lunches or something'?

How about you get off your ass and go to one of these centers and do something useful with your time?

2012 - I hope and pray that dems and their friends bring back your words and those of others right before election day.

3. I'd much rather he live a long life after being voted out of Congress
I believe that the longer he lives, the closer we will get to the sort of government that he lives in fear of. While yes it's unfortunate that he would be the recipient of a substantial amount of what he would call government handouts, but I find that a small price to watch somebody impotently fight against the future.

2. Eric Cantor's district
got hurriquaked. He's gonna be busy wrangling for services instead of killing them.

4. His district isn't getting hit so much
He's way out in the Blue Ridge. Irene isn't making as big a dent out that way.

6. But his district got pretty heavily hit from the quake
it was the actual epicenter. The governor already is extending hand from that.

5. We can do that...
In fact, I can't think of a better time to eliminate all federal expenditures in Republican-represented districts. (Including mine, but we have to start SOMEWHERE.)

If we erase all funding for Boehner's district, Cantor's, Labrador's and a few other choice districts, it might wake a few people up.
