loss of electricity, flooding and storm surge would be the main problems. Urban flooding and public health issues are real threats to millions on the coast.
I appreciate the coverage from the experts on M$Greedia and those DUers providing additional help deserve lots of kudos.

Respect due!! This is deadly serious. People have already died and more will die overnight.

THank you M$NBComcast for the wall to wall coverage.

11. ok
But your long list brought this to mind (though it took me a while to put my finger on it). Please forgive me!

“NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our *four*...no... *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surprise.... I'll come in again.”

13. I remember Hurricane Agnes in 1972 as a teenager.
It was only a category 1 storm, and it reduced to a tropical storm by the time it hit New York and Pennsylvania. Many of the deaths were due to flooding in central PA and upstate NY.

14. I was a kid during Agnes.
I don't remember riding it out, but my parents do. Mentioned it just the other day, in fact.

16. Great phrase, and appropriate for these times.
Not just for storms like this, either.

Too many people (politicians - oops, excuse me, "politrickians") letting the "little head" below do the thinking for the big one up above.

17. Why do People die because of electrical wires being down? Profits...
http://www.dane101.com/node/2640/topics/current

It costs money to bury lines. So what if a few Americans die? At least profits aren't compromised. The three deaths in the cited article were all preventable, but the electric company put profits over public safety.

18. I appreciate nothing about msm coverage....with billions of words
spoken about the hurricane since at least Thursday, NOT ONE syllable about global warming.

Not one about how this (unusual) hurricane and last week's unusual earthquake are harbingers of the global disasters of increasing severity that we will face.

19. Like you I believe that M$Greedia does need to
discuss global warning. That said when a major storm is coming people want to know what to do to get out of harm's way, what they need to survive following the storm, etc., and you cannot say that M$NBComcast and other channels haven't provided helpful advice.
