Nuclear plants in Hurricane Irene’s path
Edited on Sat Aug-27-11 07:50 PM by AsahinaKimi

Here's hoping Hurricane Irene does minimal damage. And let's also hope the nuclear power plants in its path are more than prepared for a level 1, 2, 3 or 4 hurricane. Because if they can't withstand a "We had no idea this area would ever have a of this magnitude" situation, lots of people will, one day or another, be in some very serious trouble.

5. I know there is one just above NYC that people have been concerned about
(in terms of possible weather damage) but I can't remember the specifics of that plant.

6. Tsunami was 30 ft plus. Irene waves are 10-15 ft.
I've heard no mention of any possible nuclear plant problems and, with all the hyper-coverage, surely this would have been mentioned if it were even a remote possibility. Quantities of rain is the major issue with Irene.
