LINCOLN — Lincoln police are looking for a teenager who knocked down a man dressed in a chicken costume outside a business.

The man works for Paycheck Advance and was trying to attract customers to the business Thursday when he was attacked.

Police said a teenager ran up the street, crossed his arms and lunged at the man. The man suffered minor cuts and bruises on his elbow and hands when he fell.

Police said a witness confronted the teen and three friends, and they all ran off.

A manager at Paycheck Advance declined to comment. — AP

2. The funniest part of this...
Why is Paycheck Advance using a chicken suit to attract business?

3. Isn't it obvious?
They're riffing on "a chicken in every pot" - if you get a payroll advance to buy it.:silly:

6. damn you, you stole my post!
I was in the Chicago area in the late 60's. I loved Chickenman! I wish he'd come out of retirement.

15. Dick Orkin is still doing voice work but alas, no Chickenman.
Here's something neat I just found about him:
Orkin has been inducted into the National Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame,<2> the Illinois Broadcasters Hall of Fame, the Pennsylvania Broadcasters Hall of Fame<4> and the Radio Advertising Bureau Hall of Fame.<5><6>

On January 21, 2010, Orkin wrote to the National Association of Broadcasters requesting them to remove his name from the Hall of Fame because he did not wish to share the honor with Rush Limbaugh. According to Orkin, Limbaugh showed "reckless insensitivity" with his remarks regarding the 2010 Haiti earthquake. Orkin referred to Limbaugh as a "dangerous hate-monger" and a "perfidious human being".

8. Chickenman was hilarious!
On KPRC radio In Houston. I sent them a picture I drew of Chickenman and got mentioned in the Houston Post. I put feathers on it and said he could be a summer replacement for the NBC Peacock. That got their attention,
they printed bumper stickers that said Keeps Peace, Routs Crime, for KPRC which is the NBC Channel 2 TV station and also a radio station.

I think I was about eleven. Pretty heady stuff to be mentioned in the TV section of a major metropolitan newspaper.

I lived in Houston and my father worked as a morning DJ at KPRC. I remember Chickenman, but can't really remember what the joke was. I always got him mixed up with that 60's Jay Ward cartoon Super Chicken.

14. That's cool!!
I thought he was just a parody of Batman the TV show and other assorted caped crusaders.

I'm so old I remember when the KPRC studio was on Post Oak, right near what was soon to be the Galleria. They moved out on I-59 Southwest Freeway.

I went down there one time (Post Oak studio) to watch Prep Bowl with my high school friends. Prep Bowl was a high school version of College Bowl, trivia questions for college teams. I tried out for it but i think they didn't pick me because of sexism. I could think faster than the boy they put on the team where I would have been. They lost.

I'm so old I remember when Larry Rasco was the weatherman. And Ron Stone was young.

9. It's nice that DU can find such humor in violence.
We'll chalk it up to "he was working for an evil company, grrrrrr!" I suppose.
